Can't locate files on external hd

Chris, it's much more complicated than it need be, but not difficult when you know how. You can copy files from your Humax FVP-4000T to an external USB drive (or memory stick), but they don't show up from the FVP-4000T recordings tab as you've discovered .... however if you then connect your...

    Recordings

If you have recorded several episodes of a series when viewing the recordings "page" you should see the title of the series followed by a number in brackets - showing the number of episodes recorded. You can open this as a "folder" and select the first instalment by scrolling across to the...

    Recordings

Open the folder containing the individual files, then rather than press "Play this episode" use left arrow button to move into file list and then up arrow to select the top file and press OK. I know ... it's crazy, but easier than trying to rename all your recordings. It was far simpler with...

    Delete

This may be confusing for OP as the FVP-4000T doesn't have the OPT+ button that was present on earlier Hummys!

    Using external USB HDD

If you have several recordings of a TV series you can select the folder and batch move, if the recordings are of different series they need to be selected individually - hope this helps

    Using external USB HDD

Just to clarify - its the speed of moving files to / from the Internal HDD to the USB HDD that is inordinately slow (subjectively this seems even slower than when using the HDR-FOX). If you have files on the external USB drive (whether copied from the internal HDD or another Hummy), these...

    Using external USB HDD

That's what one might have expected BH, but your "imagining" is incorrect! In fact the 4000T has quite different software from the HDR-FOX - I was very disappointed on "upgrading" to find that the straightforward interface of the HDR-FOX has been jettisoned for a far less intuitive set of commands

    Using external USB HDD

Hi Jeddy, Just to kick off ... I also have the 500GB 4000T, and can confirm that HD recordings soon eat into the HDD space available. I have an external USB drive connected (for some of the issues I've experienced with these see my other postings). All recordings are made to the internal HDD...

Thanks for posting this small encouragement ... I won't be holding my breath!

What is remote record like from the Android/IOS app?

Once the schedule is set and registered in the Hummy it is no longer possible to remove it remotely. However, if you go into "Schedule" on your box and delete it from there you will find that it has also disappeared from the remote scheduling.

New update landing 2nd week in Nov

Yes - as you've discovered, leaving an external USB connected HDD results in stored recordings on internal HDD disappearing - occurs when Humax reboots

    Customised Firmware for FVP-4000T??

Another reason why I will still be keeping my HDR Fox's running for as long as they last - though I'm appreciating the FVP-4000 ability to record three different programs

    Mysterious comings and goings ...

The recent "fix" certainly hasn't resolved my issue of the vanishing recordings on the internal HDD - as I posted above, the only way I've found around this is to leave my external USB drive disconnected (as the machine re-boots at least daily) and then plug the USB drive in when I want to play...

What is remote record like from the Android/IOS app?

Hi Grant, I hadn't tried to delete any scheduled recordings until I read your post - but you are right ... I'm not using the IOS app, but find that logging onto the myHumax.net webpage from my PC is just the same as your experience. Haven't seen any phantom settings as yet!
