thanks for that Black Hole, I think understanding what has happened to that file precisely might be hard. It might in fact be easier to delete and copy again from one of the back ups (which is either an external HDD or the original suspect Humax HDD) and start the decrypting process from...
ah - i didn't know that - so is there any chance to decrypt it? or perhaps its corrupt? is there any way to find out whether the file is corrupt or whether I can salvage it?
thank you!
hi everyone,
apologies for silence, have been away and then had various problems with internet etc - so finally got that all sorted (for now!)
some of the movies seem to be working fine, and some are not.
not sure if the ones that are not are fixable though so would appreciate your thoughts...
thanks both, in general, it's the ones that are being moved (cut) are the ones that I'd want to delete - so hopefully that will work!
After 'cutting' they remain in the folder? is that normal?
hi everyone
an update from me - apologies for the silence - have been away.
So, thanks to MymsMan, I managed to get that piece of software working - and it did the job! thanks for that - looks great.

via SATA to the laptop and then connecting my...

my thinking was (before you posted your solution):
I have a bunch of recordings on the external HDD - with names in tact - why don't I just copy those across
Also, I'm not sure whether I have all the files on the 1tb...
yes, thank you very much for that - I will definitely give it a try. I've been away so just trying to find time so that I can go through it slowly and make sure I get it right. I'm then going to try to sort this out once and for all!
in the meantime, I have installed the 2tb drive into the Humax...
