Humax PVR can't receive same range of channels as Hotel TV - how come?

I actually thought of attempting a manual tune on the Humax, but I couldn't check the TV's UHF channels because the relevant menu options were disabled. The Humax box hasn't been retuned since it was used in the hotel, so I will hook it up later and check what UHF channels it tuned to. The...

Humax PVR can't receive same range of channels as Hotel TV - how come?

Ah, now I get the North Wales reference. Sorry, I was a bit slow there. I am a ISIHAC fan, as it happens, I just missed the reference. The Hotel TV *seemed* to be a pretty normal Freeview set, with no additional channels. I had discounted the signal strength possibility on the basis that, as...

Humax PVR can't receive same range of channels as Hotel TV - how come?

Just that. The humax picked up the PSB muxes, giving BBC, ITV, Channel 4/5 etc and the HD channels, but failed to receive any of the COM muxes, so no access to the likes of Dave, Pick, Challenge etc. The hotel TV received all the channels on all the muxes. No I’m not from Wales. Why do you ask?

Humax PVR can't receive same range of channels as Hotel TV - how come?

I was staying in a Holiday Inn Express last week (Yep, I know how to live the high life), and the room TV seemed to be an "almost" standard Samsung terrestrial Freeview receiver. Aside from some of the Installation menu options being greyed-out, it didn't seem to have any other "hotel" firmware...

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

Only if you're talking about true "hi-fi". If you just want "good sound quality" then a small amp (like a TDA2822 or something similar) connected to a pair of decent speakers will work. TV's built-in speakers generally don't even approach "good sound quality". It's the speakers that make the...

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

Are you claiming that all TV was unwatchable prior to 1998, when the first digital TV services became available in the UK? I never had any issues with picture quality prior to that date, when *all* broadcast TV was effectively "CVBS".

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

I have so far been unable to find one with speaker outputs. If you know of one, please tell me the model number so I can go and buy it! Headphone and line-outs don't count. Picture and sound quality are equally important. I consider both together. I will not put up with awful sound just to...

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

Sure, I just didn't want to make the thread confusing :-) The problem is with the Panasonic TV. This is capable of displaying RGB, but when it receives an RGB signal, it displays this to the exclusion of all else, including its built-in tuner or any other inputs. Even if the Humax is switched...

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

Thanks! Good lord, I didn't even know those connectors were there! I think I may even have a SCART-to-phono cable in my cable stash - so problem probably solved :-) I feel a bit silly now. Thanks again.

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

Thanks for the replies. I will check the firmware version and upgrade if necessary. If that doesn't sort it, I will report to Humax, but as you say it's unlikely they will fix it as probably very few people need to use the CVBS output anyway. My hopes are not high. Yes, CVBS output is...

Bug: SCART output unexpectedly switches to RGB mode

Hello all! I'm new here, but have been a very happy PVR-9200T users for several years. Based on my pleasant experiences with my 9200, I recently recommended that my parents went for a HDR-FOX T2, assuming it would be just as good, but with the added benefit of HD recording. Unfortunately...
