Been away a few days, more testing to be done. Did ditch all backups and started afresh with full retune. Will report progress as soon as I've tested further. Thanks for your help.

All above suggestions followed, I'm pleased to say HD problem solved. Once again thanks to all. EDIT: Oh Dear Spoke to soon, despite all attempts still no joy, more lack of recording, mostly BBC HD but also Channel 5 HD.

Excellent Thanks for quick and detailed advice. Will carry out the backup, and format to restore back to 'as delivered', then re-install custom firmware. I presume my 'backup of channel configuration and scheduled recordings' will have to be done manually?
