I can no longer access Hummy portal, it's showing in Firefox address bar as "Connection is not secure".
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks.

I mean that when I wish to access the Custom firmware on my PC ie 192.168.1.113 i get a blank page with the 500 Server Error notice and the icon next to the shield in the address bar has a red line through it. Mouse hovered over it results in "Connection is not secure".
Thanks

Please could you tell us which version of the custom firmware your box is running?

Try this (gleaned from Google):

Bypass the Firefox Your Connection Is Not Secure Warning

If you are visiting a trusted website, you can choose to bypass the “Your connection is not secure” warning in Firefox.

When the error message appears, you can click Advanced -> Add Exception -> Confirm Security Exception.

Also try clearing the cache, browsing history and cookies

In the webif you can switch the humax to using https access which should permanently resolve the warnings (you will need to override the warning once first)

In humax terms the "TV Portal" is the interface to web services you get when pressing the button on your TV remote hence the confusion caused by the term Portal, we nornally use "webif" for the web interface to the Humax

The latest as far as I can remember. I can't access it to check.

Yes of course I mean the web interface to the Humax HDR. Not the Portal. Senior moment, again.
Is there any other way to get to webif ? I've even tried on Samsung phone, same error, as well as 3 different laptops including from a chrome browser.

If you reboot it, the front display will first show "START SYSTEM" and then "Cust FW x.xx" for a few seconds.
What does it show for x.xx?

Have you tried overriding the security warning as suggested by @peterworks above?

Something else to try, access the humax via telnet or putty, issue fixweb from the telnet menu and from the command line issue the commands
CSS:
cat /var/log/webif.log
cat /var/log/webif-error.log
and report the results

edit: add fixweb

Hi
I've managed to get into telnet, gone throgh all the fixweb etc. Getting the following.
/mod/bin/jimsh: can't load library 'libutil.so.0'
I've reinstalled the web interface, still no change.
This is the install log below from Telnet:

"Please select option: webif
Are you sure you wish to install the initial web interface [Y/N] y

Connection to online repository at http://hpkg.tv successful!

Updating package list...

Downloading http://hpkg.tv/hdrfoxt2/base/Packages.gz.
Inflating http://hpkg.tv/hdrfoxt2/base/Packages.gz.
Updated list of available packages in /mod/var/opkg/base.
Package webif (1.5.0-9) installed in root is up to date."

I can't find anyway of checking which is selected - https: or http:
Can this be done from telnet?
Thanks for your help

Hi prpr
Comes back as invalid
"Microsoft Telnet> opkg install --force-reinstall libutil
Invalid Command. type ?/help for help"

Well you have to connect to the Humax and select the cli option first (you should get a prompt like humax# . I might have thought at least the first part of this was blindingly obvious. exit gets you back to the menu.

Brilliant. Your cli force-reinstall line fixed my webif access problem too. Hummy back in working order. Thanks

It's a curious fault I don't think we've ever come across before, so to have someone else with the same problem is odd. I can't imagine what causes it.
If anyone else comes across this, please could they run the following commands and report the output:
Code:
ls -l /mod/lib/libutil*
md5sum /mod/lib/libutil*

Crash log says Humax crashed at 1838 on 1st August 2022 but I know webif was running fine up to the evening of the 26th October 2022. Humax tends to crash every 2 to 3 months requiring a hard reboot but small price for funtuality. Novice so unsure how to query any deeper
