I just use FileZilla. I have autodcrypt enabled so all my recordings are decrypted before backing up. Using FileZilla, I FTP into the Humax and simply select which/all recordings and folders I wish to backup and that is basically it. I have several hard drives in my PC with more than enough...
If you want to access your Humax, or indeed your home network, while you are away from home securely, why not set up a VPN to your home network? Tailscale is a very common VPN and easy to setup.
I am trying to view recordings via SMB using VLC on my FireTV Stick. However, I am being asked to enter a username and password. I thought that it was humax and 0000 but that is not the case. I don’t recall changing the details in the past. I have the beta version of Samba 3 installed. Help please.
I know it is easy to scorn Humax, but at least they are actively working on a solution and keeping you informed. I would give them the benefit of the doubt in this situation. Easy for me to say as I am not experiencing any reception issues.
