hi all,
oddity here: all telly gone here today; whilst I am working out what the problem is, I noticed an oddity:
System — Settings — Signal Detection reports 0/0 on all muxes.
but the CF's diag/mux.jim shows a different picture
Is this discrepancy expected, under certain conditions...
sorry, I'm not making myself clear…
what wasn't explained is what happens within padding on a split recording. e.g. does the padding also get applied in the split? What happens if the total padding (post part 1 plus pre part 2) is greater than the split time between the parts?
You've now...
Thanks!
The "problem" was that I didn't know the details you give in your third paragraph; it's not mentioned in the Disable AR wiki, and the Schedule view doesn't (neither list nor visual) indicate padding, so it wasn't clear what happens to padding in the "split", e.g. if the double-padding...
thanks BH.
ho! something else I missed; I never use the SUI for recording, so hadn't noticed that either, thanks.
I think I meant: it would be nice if the CF had an "Edit" option — instead of just "Disable AR" — that turned a scheduled recording into a full manual event, rather than merely...
RFE: It would be nice if editing an existing scheduled recording would turn it into a full manual event, rather than merely allowing Disable AR and adding padding.
thanks. Yes, my preferred solution would be a single manual recording covering the entire period. But how do I achieve that (with AR enabled globally)?
Does anyone know how the CF handles "Disable AR" with a split recording?
i.e. if I want to record Duck Soup tomorrow morning, which is on:
1020 – 1115
1120 – 1145
i.e. a 5-min split.
It's on Sony Movies Classic, where AR either doesn't work, or isn't used, and so recordings get...
hi,
There's a bad link in this page:
https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Padding_versus_Accurate_Recording
the "Disable AR" link at the bottom has a typo in the page anchor. The full link should be:
https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Custom_Firmware_Package_Notes#Disable_AR
I'd have fixed it myself, but I...
sorry, no I was talking about the possibility of a large piece of metal becoming live from something else, not from within the Humax itself.
I think that protection against that is called bonding, rather than earthing, and that's why for example my steel trunking in the kitchen is "earthed"...
Goodness! i'd never noticed, thanks.
You'd think with all that metalwork, there'd be an earth simply for "metal parts" protection, e.g. the chassis becoming live because of something external to it, i.e. bonding?
Very interesting, thanks. If I can reproduce it, I will definitely try that.
But isn't the chassis routinely earthed through the mains connection anyway?
interesting, yes, I suppose so. Well, I've cleaned it anyway.
I'll give a final report when I'm done experimenting, but at least it's unable again now; thanks for all the help, everyone.
Thanks. Indeed, the front panel was covered in dust.
But the problem disappearing when the TV is off suggests it's not a capacitative front panel issue, I think? I've cleaned it, regardless (after moving it, see below)
Yes, indeed, that was my thinking, and indeed it's worked.
I've moved the...
