  I'm not sure that's true. HD-FOX and HDR-FOX only offer signal detection for saved UHF channels, whether via Menu >> Settings >> System >> Signal Detection or via the hidden service menu's tuner test function.

  No. What photo? Follow the usual repair strategies for a SMPS: replace anything that looks burnt, and any electrolytics for good measure. Considering it's still possible to source working used units on eBay, I doubt this is a worthwhile use of your time. I can probably provide a PSU.

  It doesn't work like that. To use branding such as "Freeview+" or "Freeview Play", units have to conform to specification and are not allowed to do their own thing.

  Why are you dissecting stuff instead of just using it? I guess the vast majority of users simply install packages from WebIF >> Package Management, where you would be presented an "Install" button for network-shares-automount and then any dependencies are dealt with behind the scenes. My point...
