  well after a 6 hour fix disk, fixed the dodgy block and no additional errors reported. box still behaving the same, immediately booted into 'cannot display this video mode' so that was a red herring. Yep Mike I do agree. hoping to track down a scart lead tomorrow and will try the tip Black...

13. [CFW 3.00] Customised Firmware version 3.00 released.
  
  Noticed this yesterday when installing on a factory reset humax. I didn't mention it as I assumed it was just my humax as it currently giving me grief on a different issue. Removing the wifi dongle allows it to boot ok.

  Actually from a post on Philips website for a Philips monitor with the same error I've seen someone suggest a hdmi switcher so I've bought the same one off eBay, worth a punt! If not I'll try rolling back, I player handy but not massively necessary.
