I've not done it myself, but this might work and seems to be the latest buzz way to view stuff on the TV - get a Chromecast dongle, so whatever you view on your phone/tablet gets cast onto the TV.
I use MX Player on my Nexus tablet and access video from my NAS drive no problem, so I assume...
Yep - my TV is only 32" so I guess the difference between HD & SD is minimal, and would only become obvious with a larger screen - dodgy eyes too :D
In fact I got that completely wrong - my sound issue was difference between optical (quieter) and coax audio output into my Denon home cinema as...
People might disagree, but I see no discernible difference between HDMI & scart, so have not bothered with using my HDMI connection, so maybe try that instead
In fact sound level over HDMI seemed lower, so scart is better for me.

How about opening up the Scart plugs & cutting the pin8 wire, which will stop the TV's AV selection when the Humax powers up

I don't think that any app will actually let you edit the file directly on an ftp server, as ftp is "file transfer protocol" not an actual file share.
Anything which appears to do this is actually making a local copy on the client machine, then copying this back to the server and overwriting...
Aha - I see what you mean
I guess this must be something like...
When you start recording (without rewinding) the Hummy can record directly to a continuous .ts file.
However...
If you rewind, you're looking at temporary files which the Hummy retains whilst you're viewing...
Could it be that the one you say fail to work are HD recordings, since those won't convert via USB without the "foxy" fix, and since they're encrypted won't stream either, unless you've got a specific DLNA client which is capable of doing the decoding (according to the...
I'm sure there will be others along with more experience (and hope I get this correct), but "Yes" - recordings copied via USB should play anywhere, with a couple of caveats
Recordings on the HDR1800/2000 are encrypted on the box - there is an ftp server on the Hummy which could allow the files...
Cheers, will take a look
<edit> looks like an extra codec needs to be purchased from the Raspi Foundation, as to keep down the cost of the Pi they didn't licence everything </edit>
As per the title, has anyone had any success streaming to XBMC? I'm in geek mode, trying to get this to work :-)
I am running Raspbmc (XBMC on a RaspberryPI) ....
XBMC can see the HDR-1800T Media Server (having scanned UPnP devices), but when I attempt to play one of the recorded (*.ts) files...
Resurrecting an old post, but....
Yes, I've noticed a lower level on the optical output.
Connection is to a Denon Home Theatre system.
Digital V1 coax input is from the TV, which itself is coming from the Humax (Humax vol. controls this level)
Digital V2 optical input is direct from the...
Just to join the debate: I recently got an 1800T with ver. 1.00.27(23/07/2014) loaded.
Whilst doing my initial setup I connected to the internet to check out the Humax TV portal, then attempted an OTA autosearch (no update found).
Having put it into standby for a while (maybe an hour), when I...
