Great instructions.. just installed it. I'd started to encounter the file format problem so instead of using dos2unix, I simply copied an existing script (dedup), renamed it, and pasted in your script. Once my wife has finished watching cr*p I'll jump on and start filing things into sub-folders...
As I thought, the Milestone doesn't have enough grunt at 800mhz.. overclocking it to 1Ghz did the trick, but I'm not happy overclocking it to that degree for long periods of time.
Ah, now if that's the case, it would be more efficient for me to have auto-unprotect running and use the built-in DLNA server, rather than having to copy all the stuff I wanted to watch to the virtual drive. I'll have to give it a try.
This looks great; just what I was after. What I'll probably end up doing is adding a section at the end which finds all the empty folders and deletes them (moving the .series file up to root).. which is another annoyance of the way it displays recordings.
Are you guys pretty much finished...
Just been looking at the modded firmware & it looks brilliant! When I get a chance I'll be getting that installed.. just had a baby daughter born on Monday so things are a little frantic ;) Could you point me towards Sam's Auto Filer script.. can't see it listed on the packages site...
If I move a folder of recordings elsewhere, then I'd like subsequent recordings to end up in that moved folder rather than a new one in the root of the drive. E.g. I move all the kids series into folder with their name on.. and future recordings will end up in there. Not much to ask for.. should...
Vplayer works okay on my Milestone (Droid).. it at least displays video. I just don't think my handset is up to playing the stream reliably.. any fast movement causes it to drop frames and stutter the audio. Better than nothing though! :)
I'd installed Rockplayer which did fire up when I selected one of the .ts files.. giving me an option of 2 'en' streams. One had sound, one didn't. I'll give those 2 other players a go tonight.
Hmm, I wonder whether XBMC will support it in a future version.. or maybe it does & I need to update the version I've got installed :)
[Edit] - Nope.. no luck with the latest version. Anyone been able to get HD to show up on a Windows box?
According to this Twitter account, HD content will stream to 'devices that support it'.. hmm, I'm guessing that means they support the encryption it needs, rather than HD as such.

Couldn't get the videos to play properly; I get sound but no picture. Oh well.. I guess it's down to my Motorola Milestone not being new enough (and having hardware acceleration).
1) Media sharing works with HD files on a wider set of clients (e.g. XBMC, Windows Media Player)
2) Media sharing allows for ffwd/rwnd (or jumping fwd/back)
3) Browsing recording media either fits in some of the description into the overview (next to the thumbnail), or allows you to press...
For me, I'd love some kind of guide+index to all the modules that are available, together with screenshots of them in action (where applicable).. then I know what I'm getting before I take the plunge.
Have you? I tried with Windows Media Player & it could see the files, but not play them. XBMC works okay so it's not a big problem. Shame ffwd/rwnd or skipping through the video doesn't work. Does that work for you in WPM?
