Would it technically be possible to run the HDR from the HD.
I've got things set up as I want it, with the HDR mounted to the HD, but it would be really useful to see the guide/schedule of the HDR via the HD. That would round things off nicely.
I'm not sure what BootHDR does but could it be...
The HDR mounting worked but I couldn't see any files. In the end this was because the files had invalid characters in them (from my own version of dedup). Once this was corrected I could see them.
I have set up the cron job to run flatten, mydedup and unencrypt one after another and quite...
Using a usb stick to record to via the HD hasn't been proved. It looks like you'll need a 20Gb+ stick as the HD requires that amount to alloacte to storage.
More faff!
I have connected the old hdd I was using to test the CF. I reformatted and made the label drive1. I believe this is the same as the the label that is used in the ext2 formatting process - can anyone confirm...
I bought a 16Gb usb stick to host the CF and record any ad hoc things!
So before I buy a 32Gb usb stick, can anyone confirm that it will definitely work?
Thanks.
Thanks Brian. Will have to think about an external hard drive. Assume it needs to be mains powered to work properly/efficiently or do the usb powered ones work ok?
I have a usb stick formatted to ext2 hosting the custom firmware. I also have my HDR mounted to the HD and that works fine. I don't have a usb hard drive attached.
I was expecting to be able to record to the HD usb stick, but when I press record I just get a blue invalid symbol in the top right...
Is it possible to specify unencrypt to only run on the My Videos folder and not any sub folders below that (e.g. Duplicates and Deleted Items in my case)?
Also, what is the procedure if it is decrypting when the unit is put in standby?
I have a recording of the Olympics Opening Ceremony which is...
I have mounted the HDR to the HD and need to ensure my recordings are decrypted (ongoing) as quickly as possible after the recording is finished.
Which would be the best method to use - unencrypt package or the WebIf enable auto-decrypt feature. I can see how the unencrypt package would work but...
I think i've found the problem, and obviously it was all my own doing!
In my own Dedupforflatten I was changing the media list and file name to 'program: episode', but : seems to be a restricted character.
I have renamed the files and I can now see and play the files via the mount.
Just need to...
I tried re-installing Samba but that had no affect.
Then I noticed something - when viewing the HDR via Network on the laptop, a recording which was in-flight had the full naming convention (all the other files have the dos naming convention).
I use Flatten and my own version of Dedup, so maybe...
Thanks. I used smb to set the mount. I will try removing Samba and re-installing. See how that goes. Can't do anything tonight as i'm in a tent in the back garden with my 4 year old!
Thanks Black Hole. I think the underlying problem may be something to do with the HDR.
On the HD USB list I see the USB HDD and the HDR-FOX - My Video - Deleted Items folder and Duplicates folder. There is nothing in the Duplicates folder. In Deleted Items there are a few items, but with short...
The reason for the last bit not working was that I don't have the coax connected to the HD (it's only in test mode!). I can see the HDR via DLNA.
So, the mount still doesn't show anything more.
My mount settings are:
smb/HDR-FOX/
domain=WORKGROUP
folder=Media
host=192_168_11_5
mac= (default...
Anyone have any thoughts as to why this is happening. Just tried again and it's just doing the same thing.
This is the last step to get the HD/HDR working as I need them, otherwise the HD may be for sale!
Thanks very much.
Edit: Just noticed that if I try to connect to the HDR via the HD...
HD CF
I have installed the CF on the HD. The process was to format a usb hdd on the HD using the std FW (this uses Ext3 format). Then use a usb stick to load the CF (this is a FAT32 stick as I have Windows). Then plug the usb hdd back in so the CF can be stored on it. The CF needs a usb...
Seeing as lots of people have helped me over the last few months then I thought I’d put down a few thoughts and learnings on the HDR and HD to help new users.
I’m not going to repost instructions to do things, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for then I’m sure someone will point you in...
