  Where is the serial no.? My box is very noisy at times (not all the time, which suggests it may be the fan rather than disk activity). I'll see if I have a 7105 machine too. Also getting occaisional blank screens with "This channel is not running or scrambled" when watching a live programme...

  Something similar has happenned again. This time I had *Deleting ... in the media window after deleteing a recording we had just watched, but nothing appeared to be being deleted, fortunately. Box wouldn't shutdown though via the remote. I telnet'ed onto the box and issued a "reboot" command...

  Thanks all. I have a dilemna then. Take the box back as its under warranty, but lose my recordings, or open up the box and invalidate the warranty should it not be as simple as a drop of oil or loose something. Alternatively, live with the noise. It is loud though.

  Reckon I must have a dodgy unit too. Has the same symptoms i.e. very noisy something (fan, I assume) after a couple of hours. Loathe to take it back though as I'd lose all my recordings (assuming they replace rather than attempt a repair). RobH1, will you post back here if you get success with...

  Eek indeed! Some of the stuff is still on iPlayer or other catchup services. Imagine the panic when we thought the last episode of Homeland may not record properly.
