What can I say? As I have never had any runaway recordings I don't have anything to work on. It could be luck, on the other hand, it could be the combination of packages and they way they are configured. I have all my HDRs set up the same.
You are not forced to use a ‘continuing DD’ as you put it. AFAIK there is nothing stopping you from cancelling the recurring payment straight after you have paid the initial £10.

I ask because I have a sleep timer set for 14:30 and I am also in maintenance mode running fixdisk. Is it likely that the Humax will still sleep at 14:30 as I don't think that the fixdisk will be finished by that time?
I have a DECT phone, just the extension handset ,next to my DAB bedside radio without issue. It's been like this for years. Phone is a BT8500 and DAB radio is a Pure Siesta.
