I have now got my mount working perfectly, but to get it to work, even though i don't have a domain, I have to put my workgroup name in the domain settings
If I remove the workgroup name from the domain settings, it looses the mount
I'm very, very happy now, as this was the one thing that I...
God I'm dull
I just tested my double mount to the video share mentioned in my previous post
Guess what I did
Yes instead of testing the deleting of the Synology folder which is set to Read only, I blindly deleted the DO_NOT_DELETE folder which is Read/Write, so I'm back to restoring my...
Yes, files were deleted, about 50GB
I've done another test
The video folder on my NAS was set to Read/Write access for the username that I used, and it allowed it to delete files - it even shows the message that you quoted, but still deletes the files
By setting the username to only have...
Right my mount is now working
Previously, any settings that I applied to my Synology folder (Workgroup, IP Address etc), would not creat the mount
I then created a new folder in SMB called test
I then entered all the same settings as I did for the Synology folder and it still didn't work...
WARNING WARNING WARNING
Sorry for the above message, but I have just been the victim of my own testing, and I don't want anybody to do the same
From Drutt's post above
While testing to get the mount to work, I was following the info in the above quote
When the mount failed, I would make...
@oijonsey
This is exactly what I'm getting
The Folder is created, but there is nothing showing inside
Check the Diagnostic page on Webif and look at the scanmounts.log
You will probably see a line saying 'mount failed'
af123, you were correct about the log viewer on the diagnostics page
Here is the middle section from the text in the scanmounts.log
The mount has obviously failed from the above text saying "Permission denied"
Should there be a ",," at the end of line 2
If I telnet in and manually mount...
When I do this I get loads of lines saying "Checking Synology"
There does seem to be something else that appears at the start, but I cannot scroll back up to see it
What would I need to type with "cat /tmp/scanmounts.log" to make it either run slower so that I can read what it says at the...
Ignore my last message
I have now plugged a USB drive in to the HDR and I can now see Flash Drive, virtual and Synology
So that's sorted, and it was me being thick again!!
Just need to sort out the folder settings for the mount
Any ideas
Does that mean a USB drive has to be plugged in to the HDR?
If it does, will it then show the virtual and Synology folders
Or once again, am I being thick again
Right I've been giving this a go so that I can mount my video share on my Synology NAS, but I've come up against some problems
I have created the folder under smb and called it Synology
I have entered the IP Address using the "_" instead of the "." i.e 192_168_0_2
I have entered the username...
This forum pointed me to the great work being done with the custom firmware, and that customisation turns a bog standard PVR in to a fantastic machine
I used to use an old laptop to stream video from my NAS to my TV, but now I can do it on the HDR
The custom firmware is what pushed me to buy...
When the 'mount' is created, the Hummy will see a shared folder from the device it is connected to
i.e. If you have a folder on your PC/Laptop/NAS called 'video', the NAS will 'mount' that video folder using the network path of the folder - e.g \\192.168.0.1\video
When you click on the Media...
Excuse me if I asking a thick question
As the mount will act like a USB drive, does that mean if you use the OPT+ button on the remote and copy a file from the Hummy to the mount, it will automatically decrypt the file, or would a manual decrypt still have to be done
I use VLC which plays HD files OK, I was just responding to the OP as he mentioned HD files and Media Player and I was just letting him know that I have the same issue if I use MP
If you play the recording from the Humax before you copy it to another source it will play through an amp using DD 5.1 or 2.0 even though the audio is AAC
If you pull the recording off the Humax and do nothing with it, and then copy it back to the Humax, you will not get DD, it will be in...
