An update.......I thought I'd try a sound bar, a Yamaha YAS 105. Not top of the range at £189 but as it was for 'every day' use ( I have a quality surround system for movies and the like) I thought it would suffice. The only connections to the sound bar were the 'optical out' from the LG 55E6V...- Greecian

Three more hours of recordings without dropouts....Two of those hours have been on BBC programmes (no commercials to skip). Nothing else has been done to the set up. Just toggling between the settings using the 'wide' button on the Humax remote control. Done just once or twice and then returned...- Greecian

I've switching between the settings using the wide button (auto>zoom>pillarbox) on the HDR's remote control per Border's suggestion before returning to the 'auto' setting. It's early days yet but I've only had one drop out in three hours of recording playback. It might be a coincidence but I'll...- Greecian

HDR-Fox T2 digital optical output.
If you're looking to replace your Philips TV. It might be advisable to avoid LG smart TV's in view of the problems more than one of us are having with audio dropouts when connecting HDR Fox's via HDMI cables. Have a read through this...- Greecian

Graham.......I'm not sure if your question is for me or 'Philbean'. Mine is a LG surround sound amplifier with just a Toslink connection and I confirm there have been no dropouts so connected. I have now switched the amp off and I am now using the Humax's with their HDMI's connected to the TV...- Greecian

Was the connection with a fibre optic (Toslink) cable? Per my previous post, I have both my Humax boxes connected with these, a bit early yet with just a couple of hours running, there have been no drop outs. Tonight the Humax lost sound altogether. The only way I could get the sound back was to switch the TV back to live TV and to re-boot the Humax. I have both Humax's and a Bluray player connected to a surround sound amp ( LG!) optically. Over the next few days, I'll run the Humax's exclusively...- Greecian

Like you say, it's called 'Simplink' on LG TV's and there is no option to turn it off completely (that I can find), only the option not to use the LG remote to control other devices. I have that turned off. Gerry- Greecian

Yes ....Recorded in HD and the end was missing.....To***rs. I've now deleted it so as not to disappoint my 4 year old granddaughter. Crystal Palace transmitter. -

AR recording problem?
Both episodes recorded on one of my HDRT2's in HD OK from the Crystal Palace transmitter. I haven't recorded much on BBC4 HD & BBC3 HD lately , but no '0 minutes' failures for the last week or so. Gerry- Greecian
