If I remember correctly, the TS files stored on a YouView box (standard definition only) are not encrypted and can be copied easily using Ubuntu (or similar). As for the the high definition content, this is encrypted but I don't know how the key is generated.
As @bottletop said above though...
To get subtitles from iPlayer I add the following entries to /mod/etc/youtube-dl.com:
--write-sub
--sub-format srt
--convert-subs srt
For playback on the HDR-FOX you may need to edit the srt files to remove formatting information (e.g. caption colour) otherwise this will show up as text entries...
Don't you think you have another 20 years in you? Will there be any HDR-FOX units still in operation in 2038 or 2040? Will the parts of the earth that aren't underwater or desert be inhabited by roaming packs of zombies? Perhaps we should have a poll?
One of the curses of Windows. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the samba package. This may make the unit reappear on the network. It will probably happen again though.
The recent update of Youtube-dl (youtube-dl_2020.09.20-2) seems to have broken something. I tried to download an episode of TOTP and got the following errors:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/mod/lib/python2.7/runpy.py", line 162, in...
One thing to note about the Sidecar package is that it was not designed to create sidecar files for Nicesplice-cropped recordings. It will work correctly if the recording has just been 'topped and tailed' but the duration will be incorrect if if sections of the recording have been cropped out...
If you have the Qtube front end for Youtube-dl installed then removing Youtube-dl will fail if you don't uninstall Qtube first. Alternatively, from a terminal:
opkg remove youtube-dl --force-depends
will remove it.
In Ubuntu 16.04, if you open a terminal window and send the command 'gksudo nautilus' it will open the usual file manager program but with root privileges.
You are the only one who mentioned panicking. So you knew that a seek error rate parameter equal to 31715 means 0 errors in 31715 seeks? Without understanding what the value of that parameter means how could anyone possibly know whether it is typical or atypical?
EDIT. From Wikipedia: Seek...
Fair enough, I am not good with hex annotation and my calculation was wrong. My point was that just looking at the raw number doesn't tell you what's going on, you need to convert to hex.
The reported seek error rate is about 0.2%. I am not sure how typical that result is. To be fair to the OP, the raw number in the smart table is a composite of errors and total seeks and to know what the raw value means requires these two variables to be extracted by converting this value to...
The fault is probably caused by the version of e2fsck on the PC the OP used. The second link in post #2 is to a thread where running e2fsck on the HD-FOX caused the inline data flags (ext4 only attribute) to be set on some inodes of an ext3 disk. This happened after @af123 updated the version of...
