      I've got the custom firmware and I have the same partition wizard. I'll have a look at prepping another drive and start from scratch. Thanks for your input.

      Still little progress. Latest format Ext3, but the drive still doesn't show up on Media, Blue Button. If I select a file and press opt+ I see a couple of other drives but if I try to copy to them I get a "not enough space" error. I've not seen an MBR option when formatting. I've got Ubuntu...

      Thanks again for that. I've got various free partitioning tools so I'll look for "MBR" in the formatting menu.

      I've formatted the drive to FAT32. Still doesn't show up when I select Media and press the blue button. However if a select a file, and press opt+ I see three options for the destination to save it to. The only one I can copy it to is "gpt-drive2". If I copy a file to there it stops at 58.16...

      I'm going to try that as a last resort. I'm copying to the front port (USB stick) at the moment and as soon as that's done I'll try the rear port.

      I didn't see your post Graham before I posted the above. As you can see I've tried a USB3 cradle which has a separate PSU and likewise a USB2 or maybe 1 with its own PSU, with the same results.
