I have a 2TB drive, formatted to Ext3, which I want to use to archive some recordings from my T2. The caddy is a USB3 one and I don't know if that is the problem, but I don't see the USB option when I press the "Media" button. If I use a 16Gb stick it sees it, and copies stuff across. I've not...
I updated all packages and the web interface stopped working, although it was still on the network.. I started a telnet session, chose to reinstall web interface, and all is good. I hope the re-boot problem has gone away, but if not, thats for another thread.
I cannot argue with your logic. I'll spend it on a new starter motor for my fourteen year old car. Hitting the one on it now with a hammer, is not the done thing when my neighbors all have new motors.
Thanks again to everyone who has contributed.
This is what I see now, but I don't know what exactly it means, except for the fact that I think I'll change the HDD anyhow.
WRT "Attributes", item 8, "Power_On_Hours". I guess that refers to the time that the HDD has been running and not on standby?
Yes, I've not updated for a while. Its about time I did that so that's the next job.
Here is the final telnet session screen, but I don't remember entering those yes's
OK, its "bed time". I think I may have an earlier version of the CFW. I've left it to do a "long disk self test". No -y switch/option
Here is a screen shot.
The !! WARNING !! has not shown up for a few day now. Should I still do the fix-disk? If so, how long does it take? Oh, I've just checked an the Wiki says "several hours". BTW when I selected the -y option it was not a recognised command.
I've downloaded putty and followed your instructions. I had to abort the fix-disk as I run out of time. I'll have another go tomorrow. Thanks again to everyone who's contributed. If Heineken did forums.............. :-)
Hmm, as I said I've got a red WD on the way. Its one I gave to my son, which has done about eight months as part of a media server PC. I might just get a "pukka" one and save myself any grief down the road.
Than you all for your answers.
First of all I do have the custom firmware installed. Th is is the message I get. I did do a diagnostic check but did not do a screen grab. I've just turned it back on, but at the moment no warnings. Is there a way to force a HDD check? If so I'll post the results.
I've had the !! WARNING !! about the HDD in my T2. I've powered it down before it becomes completely shafted. I've got another 1TB drive and I wonder if I can clone the old one to the new? If so, is there a program I can use to do this on a Windows 10 PC, or will I have to clone it using a Linux...
I've only got around to having another go at this today. I've swapped the SSD for a 2.5" 500 Gbyte HDD, also formatted to FAT32, and it works fine, so it looks like its just the SSD that is the problem. I'll have another play with the SSD when I have the time.
OK, thanks for that. The housing is USB3, so it may be that. I changed the lead to a USB 1/2 one which works on PC but still no go on T". I'll try another housing.
Cheers

I usually archive stuff I want to keep by using a 32Gb USB stick. I have a 128Gb SSD which I've tried, but after formatting it to Ext3 and FAT32 the still T2 doesn't see it. I'm sure this must have been covered sometime in the forum, but I've done a quick search and found nothing.
Thanks in...
Well, update maybe the wrong word to use, because I love the Foxsat and the T2's I have. I'm looking for something in case my Foxsat falls over. Maybe I should look for a spare box on eBay ETC.
I've not logged in as often as I should have, but I anticipated the answer would be in the negative. I shall have to stick with what I have then, and if an admin would like to remove this thread, no problem.
Thanks again.
