Thanks, but I still will have to format it as Ext2 at some point, which isn't mentioned there. Either on the Humax or on my PC. I'm pretty sure I've got the idea though, so I'll report back once I've (hopefully) got it sorted).
Hugo.
Hi af123, thanks for the post. Sorry, what is fairly straightforward from the command line? Formatting in EXT2? At the moment I don't even know what maintenance mode is! - I'm still very new to the CF.
Thanks,
Hugo.
Thanks Ezra Pound (aren't you a dead American poet?!). So does this mean if I format my new 32GB drive when it arrives to Ext2, using Free EaseUS for example, that it will show up as a valid drive to record to on my HD, without having to perform a format whilst on board the Humax? If that is the...
Thanks for that. I did read this and I am somewhat nervous of doing it on a USB stick, but...
1) I don't have a spare USB hard drive and I certainly don't want to buy one - more money, another thing plugged in, more clutter etc.
1) It seems from various posts that with a pen drive of 32MB or...
Hi Black Hole - I'm glad to say I sorted out samba and network-shares-automount (big thanks to Climber for that) and I've moved folders of decrypted programmes to my NAS and I can now view them on my HDR just as if they were local, along with the trick play you would expect. I'm very happy with...
Thanks yes, I did realise I could revert if needed. However, it's out of warrantee anyway. I'm more interested in having Humax and organisations like hummy.tv to have this as a recognised issue, instead of people keeping on saying have you tried the batteries! At least if it were a recognised...
Hi Paul,
Getting back to the original question of this post, I have exactly the same problem and it drives me nuts. Exactly as you described it, so I won't repeat the symptoms.
It's definitely NOT the cables or the batteries (come on, we should all check that it's not the batteries before...
Hello Rich,
My Twonky version is actually older than yours; 5.16. I bought the NAS a couple of years ago and I'm still running the same version of Twonky that came on the NAS. I don't do anything else other than decrypt and move to my NAS. The QNAP NAS is really good and I'm fully gigabit...
Thanks Black Hole. Yes, I do have an actual USB drive plugged into my HDR (it's my HD that I don't have one plugged into). The virtual USB does show up alongside my actual USB in the listings on the HDR, but when I go to select it the selection just jumps back to the actual USB - ie it won't let...
Hello there Rich. Well as I said above, I've never had any choppiness or any problems streaming HiDef content at all. I've got a QNAP NAS that has a built in Twonky DLNA server and I use that to serve files from my NAS to either telly or other devices. All streams very well.
The one thing I...
Yes, well I've certainly never had any lag ever on my fully wired home network. I only use wifi to stream to my Nexus 7 tablet, both tellies are plugged in. When we moved in to our house six years ago I fully wired the house with cat5 to every room from a central comms cupboard with a gigabit...
Shame. Fair enough. Whether or not I'm less likely to get choppy HD playback by being wired as opposed to wireless anyway (even though the Humaxes aren't gigabit), I guess I'll find out when I try to stream HD content. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for that. I'll read everything I can on network-shares-automount and only come back if I'm still stick.
Interesting that you get break up when 'playing' over the network rather than DLNA streaming. Is your network completely connected by cat5 on a gigabit switch or are you using wifi...
Thanks for the reply Black Hole, although I'm not overly thrilled at someone saying "now, now" to me like a teacher! Hopefully I was being clear that I was absolutely not meaning to nit-pick, I just wanted to check that the opt+ download does decrypt on the fly, which I wasn't sure of. I take it...
Thanks for the reply af123, all very useful. I didn't realise that you didn't need the unencrypt package to decrypt the folders. I think I'll remove the package and just do it through the interface on a selective folder basis. However, it would be really handy to be able to cherry pick various...
Hello All,
I'm new to the custom firmware, as of yesterday, so firstly thanks very much to all involved in making such a useful set of tools. Ta very much.
I've got a HDR and a QNAP NAS that I use to serve all my media around my house (photos, video, music) using the build in Twonky media...
Exactly! Without doubt the absolute WORST thing about the standard functionality of the box is the awful iPlayer. Trying to type the buttons to search for a programme is really horrible and unfortunately I have to do it all the time for my kids' programmes! Why on earth it doesn't do a search...
Hold fire! I posted too soon. In my eagerness to get the new box working I didn't manually update the firmware. I DID do an automatic update, but that didn't do anything. Having done a manual update to the latest firmware it now works fine.
I'll post again another time when I've seen how well...
So, I've hooked up my new HD-T2 on my second telly. My set up is two TVs in different rooms, one with a HDR and one with a HD, with both boxes connected directly to my network. However, extremely annoyingly (as it's practically the only reason I bought the HD-T2) I can connect to my HDR...
Great. I've just bought one and will post back once I've set up and let you know how it all works. My only slight worry is the inability to scan through programmes when streaming from the HDR to the HD - ie dealing with the dreaded adverts. If only there were a function like in the old...
