no I want to do minimal editing - nothing really heavy - but that's a complication that I had not thought of.. I've also been thinking about low light performance and actually this is important to me...- ThatMartinChap

I remember when we had our first child, as naive new parents we purchased a Video-lock to prevent our son from sticking marmite butties into the cassette slot.... ... our son not only managed to get the lock off, but proceeded to jam the lock sideways into the slot which needed be to half...- ThatMartinChap

Thats interesting - I did look at the Sony XR520 which looks excellent. Very pricey though. Where did you get the XR500 from ? I'll look at the Panasonics. Thanks for the tip.- ThatMartinChap

:rolleyes: what do you expect the lucky beta folks to do ? Spill the beans ? I don't think that will get you the update any quicker. If anything, it may slow it down if Humax feels the need to address further issues if discussed in forums such as this. Also, the beta testers probably don't...- ThatMartinChap

I thought that I might get some valuable feedback on here... Our old tape-based camcorder has finally packed-up and i am looking for a long-overdue HD replacement. Why is ITV's iPlayer so crap?
That's a shame - but I suppose the commons standard approach became overtaken with Project Canvas/YouView...... possibly that's where their development is now starting to focus.- ThatMartinChap

I agree with Brian, even with a little slow down. the speed is still more than sufficient to watch BBC iPlayer in HD over this connection on the Hummy without any issues at all. :cool:- ThatMartinChap

for my units it is certainly true. For example, my main PC in my home office connects to my BT homehub via 200Mbps homeplugs. If I plug my homeplug into the same socket as all the PC gear is hanging off-of, i.e. PC, 2 monitors, several disks, NAS, several printers and scanners, phone charger...- ThatMartinChap

Indeed - but I doubt that there would be a problem in saying that the Techrader summary seemed pretty spot on from my perspective. Hang in there, general release cant be that far away now.- ThatMartinChap

Another vote for homeplugs - I have 200mbps units and get around 100Mbps out of them (the speed that you get seems to be dependent on the number of power supplies plugged in the local plug socket)- ThatMartinChap
