Quickest way for me was to remove both drives and fit them in a Linux PC. Drag and dropped 500gb of files in no time at all.

I think its good that the hummy prioritises the earlier recordings - much better to miss the start of a program rather than the end.

I just had the same issue but a simple reboot of the box fixed it (box turned off until HDD spun down). Strange.

Didn't see that bit but thought it was probably the case.
Does seem strange to go to the cost of broadcasting on three DTT channels just to cater a box they seem to be phasing out in favour of Youview.
Surely it would be worth their while to make it available for non bt customers? Never mind...
So i just did a retune and see that the BT sports channels are being broadcast. Any idea if BT will be making these channels available via a top up service or are they only there to cater for those with a BT vision box?

Yep, custom firmware lets you set up samba shares :-) I dont use Picasa so cant really help with the ins and outs...
500gb sounds alot until you start recording HD - which you will want to do :-)

Jxp's method seems to be more like what I'm after. I don't necessarily want to choose a thumbnail manually but would prefer that the thumbnail was actually a frame from the program
Any chance of a package that runs in the background and shifts thumbnails to a minute in?

You're obviously going to get biased answers here but I can honestly say I dont know of a better freeview PVR than the HDR Fox T2.
I'm a propper gadget geek - always looking for a reason to buy something better (why wont my 4 year old TV break!?!? ) but I can honestly say, hand on...
I really don't understand why they decided to use the first frame for the thumbnail. I use AR so all my thumbnails just show the channel splashscreen - i don't know what else they thought would happen. It would have made more sense to me if they picked a frame say a minute in.
Next question. How is the fan speed regulated? Does it use a tachometer signal because the fans im looking at are 2 pin but for some reason I thought I remembered 3 on the hummy fan...

Just had a look at that quiet pc website - they have a decent range of quiet fans!
Any1 know what the fan dimensions are? I could wait til I get home and measure it myself but I'm impatient and if I order in 4 hours I'd get it tomorrow :-)

I think the "reverting back to full listing" problem has been resolved on recent official fw updates. I'm sure in the past the favourites list didn't even survive a reboot - now I can't remember the last time it reverted. Also great that the webif backs up your favourites just in case...
So...
To be honest I don't know of any forum quite as civilised and productive as this one - so the moderators must be doing something right.

Bit of a feature request...
You know how we can change the destination folder for series links. Would it be possible to do the same for one off recordings?
Essentially I keep all my film recordings in a "Movie" folder. Would be nice if I could send them straight there without having to move...
What error message do you get when you click to play them?
The most common cause for broken recordings that still play for me is when there is a minor clash.
i.e. two recording set for 20:00-2100 and one set for 21:00
If the two earlier recordings over run slightly then the recording set for...
Telnet top - thanks Ezra.
My new drive actually seems slightly cooler than my original. The fact my HDD was getting hot was one of the reasons I used to convince myself that I "needed" a new one. My old drive peaked at 59 degrees whereas this one hasnt gone over 54 yet.
I suspect poor airflow...
