So the aura does the upscaling according to the TVs settings and if you want a TV to upscale you have to watch it live or use a media player on the TV.- Jeddy

May I ask another question please? If you record / stream something, I'm assuming the aura upscales? If you play from e.g. a 4000/5000 does the TV upscale for you (from a HDMI input - I'm guessing most TVs behave similarly)? How does the upscaling on the aura compare with various TVs upscaling...- Jeddy

I've just had a skim through 22 pages and I think one of my questions about the Aura has been answered, but not others, so... Is it possible to install apps such as Discovery+ and use that to stream programs from it (primary from Quest things like Vintage Voltage, Aussie Gold Hunters etc. etc.)...- Jeddy

or even just the factory reset or any combination of the 3 (which I think makes 7 possible permutations?). If I did change the DNS back to the router then: it could provoke the problem again which would suggest the DNS is the problem - except we already know changing the DNS on its own made no...- Jeddy

I changed it to Quad9 for both primary and secondary DNS. (Not that I'm suggesting that made any difference. Quad9 was just my personal preference over OpenDNS.)- Jeddy

I thought I'd contact humax support. They came back very quickly with a few (previously tried) suggestions and then suggested a factory reset (keeping recordings) followed by setting it all up again but performing a manual tune on the channels in my mpx rather than allowing it to perform an...- Jeddy

Looks like I have 'No information' on catchup EPG again. I'm not sure if this duck is dead yet, but it doesn't seem to be quacking! I'll delete the cookies again (largely because I have no choice if I want to use catchup). FWIW I have access to the players at the bottom of the home page(?), but...- Jeddy

Just checked and I changed the DNS on 6th so I really would hope / expect that if that is going to have any effect but needs time to settle down for some bizarre reason that a week would seem reasonable, so I'm prepared to accept needing to clear cookies again today, but after that ... hmm...- Jeddy

I was theorising that catchup EPG falls into the Cookie+ category - not cookies, but is possibly deleted when you say to say to delete cookies - no doubt if they were to say 'delete cookies, cache etc. etc.) it'd raise more questions than needed, just tell the average user they are cleaning...- Jeddy

What do we know? 1) I sometimes loose the players from display 2) Catchup EPG data sometimes displays no information. 3) Deleting 'cookies' which may include other stuff fixes - at least for a while. I'm assuming that if there is a DNS problem (e.g. slow ISP / router DNS) then the humax would...- Jeddy

A quick google of 'freeview dns' is of some interest with some suggestions to not use the default router DNS, although naturally some of the hits do refer to humax. Is it possible that deleting cookies is actually doing more than deleting cookies, e.g. deleting a cache too?- Jeddy

It would also be interesting to know what these cookies contain. After I deleted them, I had no problem using iplayer etc., i.e. no need to logon again so they obviously don't hold logon information. I did however notice that after deleting them and going back in the EPG (old progs), it does...- Jeddy

As an aside and for the record, I had general network problems this a.m. (no internet), so ended up rebooting the router. Whether this could also have an effect by clearing caches on there I've no idea, but probably best add it to the list of things done, just in case it helps later on.- Jeddy

Thanks and for the avoidance of any doubt, I suggested previously that maybe I should try using all the players I normally use, delete cookies and then see what happened, I did that at the time and have used the odd player since and have had to delete cookies today.
