Sorry for slow reply, I've not had time to do anything further as yet!
Yes - that sounds a way to go. It'd be good to get those spares and see if it can indeed be done. I'll be in touch when I've got a spare moment to think and plan it out! Thanks. :)
If of interest to anyone, the latest in the saga is that it's been fine since my previous post, then I saw it die at 6pm last night as I turned the TV on to watch the news. I had a split-second flash of telly before it all went black with no signal.
Checked and un- and re-plugged the aerial...
Absolutely no damage, no.
But - strike all the above! - I've just plugged it in again after about 40 hours with no aerial connected, and 20 hours in standby (not powered off), and it's suddenly working. Both tuners are reporting 100% quality signal with 55-60% strength (normal for where I am...
You mean which of the two tuners? I'm getting absolutely no signal detected at all, so I'm assuming it's the first if not both.
But, yeah, I think I'm leaning towards a replacement from eBay. Quite a number from good sellers at good prices. Certainly a lot less hassle!
Hello everyone.
The tuner appears to have died in one of my units (no signal received, no passthrough, etc), so I'm looking at repairing (as there doesn't seem to be an equivalent device around now?).
Black Hole, do you have any applicable spares at present? Or can anyone point me toward the...
I just wanted to say thank you for this post. An innocuous comment but I've had exactly this problem with my own new Panasonic TV. Oddly, I have two FOXes and initially the second worked; it was only after power cycling to try to get the first to produce audio that the second then went quiet...
Hadn't thought of that myself. Worth trying if I can't solve the problem any other way, but I've made no changes in my hardware arrangement since July, and this problem only began for me on Sunday afternoon, so I'd be surprised.
Log of today's experiements:
Box 1: Flushed, and physical remote...
Ah! Okay, mm. Are you running CFW 3.0.0?
As of this morning, both of my boxes are only responding consistently to the Web-IF IR package, not their respective physical remotes. Will shortly be attempting the aforementioned flush, then look at possible downgrading of CFW if no luck.
Thanks. Have now also cut the power to box 1, and web IR is now working smoothly, but physical remote is still poor.
No luck with fix-flash-packages diagnostic clearing any of the real remote problem, but I guess it was unlikely to.
I guess next step is to perform a full system flush, as Black...
Ah, good point!
Well, box 1 (still not responsive) it is on the correct channel, and IR isn't working.
On box 2 (responsive after power-down), it was on the wrong channel ... now correct ... rebooted - and success!
So does that 'prove' it's a firmware issue with interpreting the remote commands?
Interesting. I wasn't aware there was a problem with auto retunes. Either way, I retuned both of my boxes manually.
Having cut the mains power to box 2, it's now responding to the remote as normal, without a further restore/reset.
(Although I should point out again that box 1 returned to...
No, indeed not. But that's the only thing that's changed, the only thing linking our problems?
I've just performed a (non-formatting) factory reset on my second box, and the problem remains.
Does anyone know how reliable the software remote Web-IF ir package is? I've just installed it on my...
I'm pretty sure it's something to do with this. My main box started behaving soon after my post at the weekend, and has been fine until this afternoon when it's kicked up a fuss again. And when I went to set the channel for my second remote to test that, I discovered my other box is suddenly...
I've just started experiencing this problem this afternoon.
I'm very reluctant to think it's a problem with the front panel module though, as the error only seems to occur within menus. Once I'm playing a recording, the box is as immediately responsive as it always has been; equally it turned...
