I don't have any experience of the HDDs that you mention. However, one of my HDRs now has a Western Digital 4TB EURX drive fitted. As BH states in the previous post, you will have to use the special custom firmware format facility.
That is the reason I don’t use my Harmony Elite. I couldn’t make SWMBO get out of the habit of using the remote control to turn things on or off. As a result when I used the remote I ended up turning boxes off that were on and on that were already off. I got really p@ssed off with it.
It’s...
It most certainly IS the HDMI handshake.
My solution is to use an HDMI matrix. I have a two output/six input model. As I have numerious devices that I connect. There are plenty of discusions on the subject. I recommend you use the search facility.

I wouldn’t regret your WD purchase. I have them in all my HDRs. No troubles with them at all.
I have, however, had more than my share of Seagate HHDs fail. Often without prior warning.
Personal choice. Some will say they have had issues with WD.
You have been told wrong, well a little anyway. I can change channels, go straight to a specific channel, or simply say channel up or down.
I do also have working with two HDRs both co-located under the TV, remote modes one and two.
Yes, I do, but it's sh@t so don't use it.
I have a Harmony Elite and Hub. The ONLY thing I use it for is to remotely turn on my Humax HDRs if away from home and SWMBO asks me to set a programme to record that does not fall into the usual 'timed wake' schedule of the boxes, thus Remote...
OK. Here goes.
Recordings are encrypted and, unless decrypted first, can only be played back on the machine that they were recorded on. So if you were to copy encrypted recordings to your NAS and the Humax box failed irreparably, then you could not just copy back the recordings to a...
Every week, SWMBO, combs the TVTimes for programmes she would like to watch in the week ahead. She never manages to watch things ‘live’ these days.
Then, when I am using my PC, I log in to the WebIF to set the programmes to record for the week. No reboot required. Never had a problem apart from...
What can I say? As I have never had any runaway recordings I don't have anything to work on. It could be luck, on the other hand, it could be the combination of packages and they way they are configured. I have all my HDRs set up the same.
You are not forced to use a ‘continuing DD’ as you put it. AFAIK there is nothing stopping you from cancelling the recurring payment straight after you have paid the initial £10.
Guess I have been lucky.
Winter Hill, and after a retune, I still have a full compliment of services. SQ: Excellent, SS: Very good.
I cannot be sure of my aerial type, but I do know I had a new one fitted when OnDigital first started, many moons ago!
