I do use streamed services on TV, mainly Netflix, Prime & Apple. As well as any catch-up, and as per previous answer there are a great Samsung TV plus channels that are in EPG .. and not on PVR.
Some of these are in 4K
yes but TV also has direct access to loads of Apps including 3 direct on TV remote. (Netflix, Amazon & Disney ) So you can record a channel and watch any of the apps
I just referring to ease of use... if I'm looking in EPG and see something I would like to record it gives option to do so.
Otherwise, have to start PVR, go into that EPG find channel and then record.
Just extra steps and remote.
Plus TV is 4K, though not specifically checked if record option is...
It seems to offer to record anything in EPG ...though not tried every option.
Pity it can't record a digital channel.
TV aldo offers to record to HD .... have to find out how.
My Fox T2 PVR works fine (uses custom f/w but is not relevant for this post)
On my new Samsung TV if I go to EPB it gives me option to view, schedule view or record any program.
Is it possible to record straight to the PVR ? i.e. its not an over the air broadcast but digital file.
As I only wanted to safeguard the ‘Content share’ and have now 'added' that and saved, if I don't want to change any of the other parameters all Ok to be ignored.
If there are any recommended to be set I'm happy to do so.
I have set Menu >> Settings >> System >> Internet Setting >> Content Share = ON
and received advice that this can turn itself Off .... and "A good idea is to install the boot-settings package and then you can ensure it is force-enabled at every reboot."
I have installed that package .... gone...
It's not 'proud' it's just that technology has moved on, 20 years ago you would read a manual to find out how to set up a video recorder, we have moved into a more modern 'plug & play world' and at least for myself means I no longer open or look up manuals. I do however come to forums to...
Thank you, I apoloogise for posting in wring place ...... I chose HDR-Fox T2 as that is what the box is, as an iregular user here - it can be confusing where to post.
I am grateful for your help.
Task achieved, now have file as a playable .ts file on my PC.
In case anybody else wants the 2nd step .... I still could not use the file in Vegas Movie Studio, seems it does not support .ts files, .... so converted it to .mp4 using the free program 'DIMO MTS Converter'
Where is that setting ? ..... I have the package 'Auto unprotect - Automatically remove decryption protection flag from HD recordings.' or is this something else.
(update) ... found out the setting, and also used the new method to download & decrypt in one step.
"It's not credible"
I did try "enable content sharing" search and got some responses but nothing that seemed to show the way forward ... but thank you for your help.
I don't however have the 'Internet Settings you mention ... Menu >> Settings >> System >> Internet Setting >> Content Share =...
Not read a manual in many Years. :)
Apologies, I did try using search window, but it did not bring up anything on enabling content sharing.
Sort of assumed as I had PC access, then it must be set for sharing if access works … obviously not.
I‘ll try what you suggest.
I have recordings that all play happily on my HDR Fox T2, I use the download option, and this results in a .ts file
The end goal is to be able to edit this file in Movie Studio .... so need to convert the file to an alternate video format.
Does anybody know a free way to convert it to MP4 or...
