      Yes, at the 'remote controller' level of operation. What's available to those others who use AF123's firmware mods and e.g. can telnet into the box and run native Linux commands is likely to be considerably more.       I agree, but if you have nothing to loose, a reformat should, I would think, show up any 'lost' space through a reduction in the available size. Check it now, and compare afterwards (both size and performance). Good luck.

When VLC initially loads the file (before it starts to play), the first image shows the filename across the bottom of what looks pretty much a plain green screen with some large random noise-like pixel blocks.       Couldn't agree more. Imagine my surprise then when I noticed that my new HDR-Fox-T2 (as opposed to the PVR-9300T which it replaced) _did_ switch the TV to the HDMI input when I switched it on (whether from off or standby).:cool: The TV is a Toshiba 37VX635DB.

      Just so that everyone else knows, I've now tried a few different approaches. I managed to attach the USB HDD using an eSCSI connection and mounted the Ext3 volume. A copy of the file made directly disc to disc (rather than using FTP) still does not produce a playable copy. VLC still cannot...

      Well, you were abolutely correct about Filezilla: the Transfer type was set by default to Auto; however that resulted in a Command: TYPE I from FTP, i.e. Image (binary data). To send ASCII would require a TYPE A command instead. See the trace over on my other thread.
