Just had a thought.......
How difficult would it be to move 500GB of recordings from an unmodified T2 to a 2000T?
Just thinking I could do everything the other way round - buy the wife a 2000T, and pinch the T2 for me ;)
But she'd need the huge stash of recordings on there - between 300-400GB...
This comes under the "for various reasons" in the original post, and when I buy myself a new box, I'll be able to do what I like with it ;)
Just because it is safe, better, and a jolly good idea, doesn't mean that any change to the current "but it works fine now" will be approved by the...
** Thanks for moving the thread to the right place **
I don't currently use the CF, though I expect would if I got a new one.
Main uses are;
Streaming FROM T2 to PC/phone to watch recorded programs - this may change to streaming TO T2 to watch PC stuff on TV.
Either way streaming is vital...
Thanks Trev......that's what I thought, but wanted to check. Time to spend hours on ebay then !!!!!
Oh and Ditto for the next comment about moving the thread ;)
Well I've had years of excellent use out of my T2 and have no issues. However, for various reasons, I have to replace it.
So guys, the question is;
Should I get another (presumably second hand) T2?
If so how much do they sensibly go for, and where is best to get them? (ie to not get ripped...
Haven't been able to pluck up the courage yet. The Hummy is the centre of the universe for my one TV family - if anything went wrong I would be skinned alive with a plastic spoon ;)
One day I will dare to do it........ one day......... ;)
Also discovered just now that mine had retuned. Annoyed I didn't see it coming as I've lost all schedule etc, but more annoyingly, it screwed up the channels as it find weaker channels first and put the ones that are actually watchable in thew 1000+ numbers (yep it fills 800 with bad reception...
Well 2.1.0 crashes like all the following versions, and it looks like that is when the playlist was rewritten - at list it looks different! ;)
At least I now know which works. Though I'll be taking a long look at the list of security fixes in the newer versions.
(I have to use XBMC now - which is fine, but really annoying as it doesn't have anyway (that works) of skipping through the program - which is something I do a lot)
I've used VLC to stream from my HDR-FOX T2 from the days when I had to use another program to browse, and cut n paste the link across.
It worked lovely when VLC added direct uPnP browsing of the box.
However a while back i went to watch a program, an update available message popped up, which...
OK, so I have been on here for a while, but I have searched and can't find anything.
The TV Portal has changed since I last used it, and now it has registration codes, privacy agreements etc.
As suggested by the TV Portal I went to www.myhumax.net. No useful info there, so carried on to...
On Linux I use VLC - works great
On Windows I use UPnP Inspector to get the program URI, the copy n paste into vlc
Windows vlc works great once you have the URI to point it to the program. Still baffled as to why the Linux version can browse the Hummy but the Windows version can't.
Brilliant. Copying the URL in to VLC works in Windows - now I don't have to reboot to Ubuntu just to watch a film.
Now just waiting/looking for the 'non-intrusive' way of making HD streamable (I don't want to flash the box if possible)
Interesting.
So if I set the Hummy to 1080p it is converting the signal before sending it to the TV. Whereas if it is et to 1080i it is sending it straight through and the TV may or may not be changing it to 1080p.
I think I need to check what the TV does with 1080i signals.
And before anybody says, yes I did do a search but I couldn't find anything useful.
The Hummy outputs both 1080i and 1080p, and my TV will accept both.
I've seen things about broadcast format, about upscaling etc etc, but not enough to draw a conclusion. It appears that this may also be a bit...
