      You don't need a computer with a serial port. Use the following setup: HUMAX_USB<->Serial<->null modem cable<->Serial<->COMPUTER_USB. Two serial to usb cables with a null modem cable between the two male rs-232 serial connectors. I'm using that setup here but don't get much out of my box. And...

      I've found some stuff in the cfe bootloader but need someone with a hd-fox or hdr-fox to verify it for me (it doesn't work with my bxr-hd+ version). Is there anyone that has a serial to usb cable, a null modem cable, a computer with a serial port (or a second usb to serial cable) and a hd or hdr...

      Thanks. That means that root fs and kernel probably aren't encrypted when stored in flash. That's something at least...

      Thanks. Wasn't aware of that thread. :) I took a look at it. Are you sure the mtd3 dump is the cfe bootloader? Update: It's encrypted... Can anyone dump the first 20-30 bytes of sections 0 (rootfs) and 5 (kernel) and paste here?

      Please do. I believe they uses different loaders... Based on the version numbers for them anyway. And the HDR one would more closely resemble my BXR one, it's at least the same version series if not the exact version number.

      Hi again. Sorry for so many weird questions. But has anyone come across a file named hdpvr.cfg from a humax box? It should probably look like a small binary file.

      No. These were clearly for hole mounting of pin headers. I know my way around pcb and hw design enough to know a hole from a surface mount pad...

      Bah! Soldering was too advanced for me. Small holes and small solderingen pads... Well. the box still works anyway...

      For anyone interested, there is a serial port with output in my BXR-HD+ which probably means there is one in the HDR-FOX T2 as well. I got some help doing some measurements with an oscilloscope today. :) Don't know what you would use the one in the hdr-fox for since it's wide open anyway...

Our model is called BXR-HD+ but it is more or less a HDR-FOX T2, main chip is the same and the pcb is almost the same (no 1080p upscaling...

      I was thinking more of getting the startup info from the cfe bootloader and similar stuff. A pin pad is fine, I just wanted to know if anyone tried it and if there actually was any output at all on it before I bring out the soldering iron... ;) If someone tried it, a pin-out would be help full...

      I know this is the customised firmware section but it seems that this is where most of the hacking stuff goes on. Please move the thread if it is misplaced. I saw a few references to a serial port inside the HD-FOX T2. Did anyone try it? Is there one inside the HDR as well?

      Is it possible to easily extract this from a HDR after it has booted and everything is up and running? Like a raw dump from a /dev/mtdblock device or similar... The CFE bootloader for the HD model is different from the HDR model if I understand correctly...
