Thanks prpr!! That sorted it, I missed your post earlier, but I input those commands and when typing net share, the downloads folder shows up, the same goes for the wife's laptop. Thanks everyone for you help, it's much appreciated
Ok, so I have pinged in both directions and all is ok on that front. I right clicked the downloads folder and selected share with, then specific people, then my user account. When I go back and right click the folder, then share with, the padlock icon is beside nobody, can anyone confirm that...
Ok, results for typing net share, and ping humax box, I also turned off norton 360's firewall and checked that windows firewall was off (which it was). Results still the same :-(
Interesting, that was puzzling me! The humax sees that my laptop is online but cannot access the folder, this would seem to be either me inputting the incorrect folder info( I've just named it Downloads, the folder resides in c:\users\david\Downloads) is this correct? Or a firewall blocking...
I had wiped her hard drive, and reloaded windows 7 on, I've had to do the same with my own, and now none of the folders mount on any laptop!! I had used the dlna server at first but found it to be slow at times, the network shares automount was always lightening fast and i very rarely had any...
That's for your suggestion, I may well use this method, however, the network shares automount was working very well for months I'm keen to figure out why it's stopped operating correctly for me.
