      Yes, I was misremembering what happened with my old Toppy. It did stop working altogether when the capacitors broke. So, that's one potential hardware fault I can rule out. Good suggestion. The problem persists, so I'll give that a go. I did try holding it for a while and it didn't help...

      Ignore this. I fixed it. I tried a manual recording, and that brought it back to life with the correct date.

      My HDR-Fox T2 recorder has reset the date to 2nd Jan 1971. There does not seem to be any way to reset it manually. As a result, the EPG is blank. I've done a couple of power cycles, but to no avail. It has also lost contact with the internet, but this is the lesser worry.

      Thanks for the clarification. They might at least have told me they'd done it. As it was, I lost several days of recordings before I discovered the empty reservation list, and then it was only by accident I discovered it, so I might have lost even more.

The best place to stick my wireless link transmitter was at the bottom of the metal strip dead centre. I assume it must transmit downwards towards the plastic area...
