Removing the orange filter helps restore visibility. The VFD is naturally a green colour, so most of its light gets absorbed by the display filter.

As straightforward as choosing "crop" from the OPT+ button displayed alongside each valid recording in the WebIF file browser, and then you get a graphic illustration of what is about to happen.
That's why I didn't recognise what you were saying originally: it's "crop" not "cut".
Now I understand, which would have been MUCH easier with some context in Post 1 (and preferably the title).
As a general rule, if things are not working as expected, it is always worth a reboot – and then if that didn't help, run fix-flash-packages and another reboot.
What "Cut folder"? What "Edit folder"? Some sort of screen-shot would help understand what you're talking about. There are several ways to access this functionality.

Only as one of the three options. I would be reinstalling the original HDD, preferably reformatted, and seeing what happens then.
But what replacement HDD? Did you take notice of advice on which types/models are suitable?
That's nothing. The OEM HDDs in my HDR-FOXes have hundreds of thousands of hours on them.
As your HDD runs elsewhere, the possibilities are limited:
Corruption caused the instability of the Foxsat, in which case reformatting and reinstalling should cure the problem.
A fault in the HDD power...
Why are you even worrying ahead of trying it? Do you think that's not the sort of thing many of us are doing all the time?
As long as you can get the WebIF on your browser, as a last resort there is the "download" option on the OPT+ menu.
