In reply to Black Hole, I've being doing this for the past year with 100% success. I get a transfer rate on the download of about 5Mbps (fibre in the UK - ADSL2 in Spain) so it's possible to download an evenings viewing overnight.
On the security front, this is a last resort so I'll only open...
Yes. The only problem I had was that my BT Homehub 5 didn't seem to like the default port number (65432) used by the IR to IP boxes. The IR to IP boxes allow a port range of 10000 to 65535 (don't know why). When I changed the port numbers to 10000 (UDP 10000 10000 -> local IR to IP box) it...
As Black Hole mentioned you can do just about everything you need to via the Web-if and RS. The problem I've had in the past when accessing the boxes from abroad is that you've fewer options if a box fails to respond. In the past I've resorted to powering the boxes down and back up remotely to...
Just an update on post 13 where I mentioned trying out IR over IP boxes I can report that I purchased a pair of boxes from Keene Electronics (KEENE IR ANYWHERE IR OVER IP MODULES (PAIR)) and can report that they work with the HDRFOX-T2 boxes. I am able to remote control the boxes over an...
In all the foregoing in this thread, my original first part of the question about the issuance of recording conflict messages from RS has been overlooked.
RS reports a potential conflict when 2 programs are scheduled where one finishes at the same time another starts and a third program is...
Yes, you're right Black Hole, I had read the Wiki in the past and knew about the ethernet interface not being available in standby, but I'd forgotten. The box may have been in Delinquent Half-Awake mode but I still have several old style sleep entries in the schedule that are probably forcing a...
So when I use the remote control to turn off a box and the display goes blank and I use the web-if to access that box via the ethernet interface and the bar at the top says "The System is in Standby", what sort of standby is this? Is this a deferred standby because the custom firmware is doing...
"I can't imagine what you think this will achieve. Power Saving in Standby only controls whether the aerial pass-through amplifier is active and the clock is displayed on the front panel - nothing else at all."
Well, there is one other thing that it affects and that's the ethernet interface...
Thanks for the feedback, my tests bear out what you've said. If I set a zero reminder and the box is in low-power standby, the box wakes up but almost immediately goes back into a low-power standby state. I guess I'll have to set "Power Saving in Standby" to off while I'm away to stop the boxes...
The point of the zero minute reminder in this case is to wake the box up so it can be accessed remotely via the web interface. I'm still trying to test it to see if the box stays on after it's woken up from low-power standby (no network connectivity). It's taking a while as there seem to be all...
I know that this has been raised before but I thought that I'd revisit the subject.
RS reports a potential conflict when 2 programs on the same channel are scheduled one after the other and a third program is scheduled that covers the period at the end and start of the programs on the same...
Yes they were all running the same version of the custom firmware but I'd turned off auto package update after I had a problem with it some time ago so a lot of packages (including rs) were out of date. I updated them all and lo and behold the problem seems to have gone away.
Silly of me not to...
Hi,
I've done a search and I can't find this mentioned anywhere so apologies if it has been covered before.
I have 3 boxes set-up to use RS and as I'm going away on holiday I wanted to set-up some extra "wakeup" schedule entries to keep the box powered on to allow quicker remote scheduling of...
I tried it on my Foxsat-HDR via the web-if and that was successful. That seems to use Jim as well, different code I guess but I seem to remember the Foxsat version was based on the HDRFOX version.
Trying to schedule the above program both via both Remote Scheduling and the Web Interface returns "Error encountered while scheduling: not enough arguments for all format specifiers" I've tried on 2 different boxes with the same result and different versions of the same program in the EPG both...
Thanks af123, I've set up each box with a 2 hour interval and will do some testing to check it out.
I've noticed that the red last seen message at the top of the webpage that shows the date and time last contacted has stopped being updated. the last date and time was around 5pm on the 18th...
Thanks af123, not too high a priority for me as I have implemented a batch file that pings the boxes every 5 minutes and sends an email if there is no response from a box. However, using RS would be a better option as I have to have my AV server running 24/7 to run the batch file.
