Thanks Black Hole that's a kind offer, i guess i just need to do everything in the right order. As long as i can get my media off, install new drive, format, reload CF and retransfer media back then i can handle losing the schedule and favourites. Will just do what i did before i discovered CF...
Glad to do so. It would be a beginner's guide which more experienced can cherry pick from hopefully.
So either i format the drive or it asks to, assuming all is well i reinstall the elements from the webif that are missing after replacing the backup file via FTP.
Its just 15 to 20 quid for something i hopefully won't ever need to use again that's all. Happy to take the more time consuming route. If i lose my schedule so be it, as long as it works again that's the bottom line.
Ok just to clarify for a numpty-
2. I just have to reinstall the add on packages?
I think i will just crack on and come back if i run into any issues Hardest bit will be getting little un to stop recording cbeebies for long enough for me to do this............
Ok have ordered a drive this morning( the Seagate one MartinLiddle suggested) and i intend to move all my old recordings over this weekend to my laptop. I have a few questions that i can't find in the wiki ( if they are please point me in the right direction and i will bother thee no more)
1 So...
No nothing in red as of yet just the disc warning when entering startup. The recorded programs pause while i get the " scrambled" message then resume but the box freezes at this time too so i can't switch it off i have to wait for it to come back to me...
That sounds like the way for me, i dont...
Are there instructions in the wiki ? What is the easiest way to transfer my recorded stuff? Can i just connect old and new drives to a pc and drag and drop? 500gb surely would take days to move across via the humax
Yep its doing it again....when a program is recording i get the black screen/ scrambled message occasionally. Sounds like hdd is working hard at that point too. Maybe its when its writing to disc???
Its a 1tb drive. Never been more than half full. I don't know what the sector count relates to. Could anyone suggest the best most suitable replacement HDD ?
Disc alloc count is 1372 was 1196. Ok that sounds less hassle if the hummy does it for you when you install like for like. If i chose the option to use an external drive how do i get the hummy to write to this not the corrupt drive. I have already one connected btw that the hummy sees as...
I will have to check. I do also get a little stuttering but not much. To be honest if it were not for this forum or the Webif warning i would have just assumed it was bad signal during recording ( which does not happen often).
I am competent with a screwdriver but its all the pages of text/ data...
I keep getting "this channel is scrambled or unavailable " messages when watching recorded TV and i think ( but cannot be 100%) that this coincides when the box is recording. I also get disc realloc count warnings everytime i log onto the Webif.
Bearing in mind i have no programming knowledge...
Thanks guys. I went into telnet. The mongoose was already set to auto but i redid it, and restarted the wifi just in case. Still not sure why it went wrong but appears to be working now. Will keep an eye on it.
Lately i noticed i cannot connect to my box, the webif comes up not found. I downloaded the latest CFW yesterday as i thought this might help but it hasnt.
Any ideas what i can do to check or correct?
