Update
I have sorted the slow remote (other thread) but still have problems with getting DHCP to work via the ethernet cables. After doing HDD sanitizing and rebooting it was working, but a while later it had no connection. All sockets are lit for power and data but no internet connection...
Thanks for the info. I am now happy and a bit more knowledgeable.
Unfortunately I still cannot find a reference to "blank spaces" in the guide and not understand what is wrong with my posts.
As you do not have time to explain I will not trouble you further but hope, should I need further help...
I could not find reference to "blank spaces" in my 16 pages of the guide.
After running fixdisk for a few hours with hundreds of fixes, the remote is now back running normally.
Do you do the monthly sanitizing by running a script or manually as I will need to put it in my diary!?
I was and still can use the link from the email and thought the was something wrong with the site, I did not realize I could delete/edit my post.
I have now got to the webpage and the crash log shows 10 entries but not what happened.
The disk diagnostics shows no errors but I am not sure if...
Hi,
I am having a problem connecting to the webpage via an ethernet cable and have a couple of questions on how the box functions.
My network consists of a TP link router to my vdsl ISP and under floor cabling from upstairs to the living room and into a 4 port switch near the the Humax. The...
Thanks for the info.
I did get an email showing reply from Black Hole mentioning "defrag" but it seems to have gone when i open the link which is strange.
When I tried to get into the webpage I cannot open the address and need to sort the problem before i can proceed.
Rather than raise it here...
Hi,
I have the recorder running the customised F/W without problems for several years but recently have got increasingly long delays in R/C operation.
Could you please advice as to the latest appropriate action to try to remedy the problem?
Background:
Changed batteries and R/Cs
Read some old...
Martins experience is interesting and seems to be similar to mine.
Even though I have been using Linux for quite a few years I am not experienced in running checks but if someone could explain the commands, I can run it to confirm the disk is beginning to fail.
I assume that if I run SMART, it...
Thanks for the confirmation of my thoughts, it just seemed a little odd that the run hours are quite low. I paid a little over the odds for the box but it is in vgc and the security tab on the base was intact.
The rate was increasing quite quickly and, as "er in doors" wanted the recordings...
I used SMART from my Fedora 30 PC with "smartctl -a" using the Pipeline HDD in a caddy and got the output as per attached file which I have just repeated.
I have now had an old drive from my Digital stream running without problems for 4 weeks but from my limited knowledge cannot see any...
OK thanks, I was wondering if the CF noted the data and if it was only worse by one count would it be flagged up or only if it exceeded a certain amount for each parameter as it kept giving the warning.
It was just to get a feel as to how it worked, more important is to determine if the HDD...
What data determines the warning output (pink square window)?
I looked at the "fix-disk" script but do not understand most of it!
There was a warning when doing disk diagnostics which I acknowledged, when retested after a couple of hours, "re-located sectors were rising" so replaced it with a...
That is/was only my point, I am just trying to keep the box serviceable into the future and thought it would be useful to try and give information on possible replacements as the "Pipeline" HDD became obsolete.
Without going too deeply into my background, I have been in electronic engineering...
Mine had only 9000 hours and reported 100's of relocated sectors and increasing quickly, maybe I was just unlucky!
I was alerted to problems of signal failure/pixelation after returning from holiday, both on channels and recordings. Since installing another disk a week ago, so far I have...
The Seagate Pipeline is now listed as "End Of Life" and as I need to peplace my drive I thought it might be useful to collect information for anyone wanting to extend the Fox T2's life.
I have done some general googling on other forums and sent enquiries to Seagate and Western Digital (WD) as...
Just noticed your post as I finished.
Although a lot of HDD's work fine the general opinion is that slower spin speeds are quieter (but by how much is hard to confirm), especially in different H/W. The Humax was developed after the Digitalstream by the same company and they improved the...
Hi,
I have some feedback from WD and am still waiting for suggested replacement from Seagate. I had a problem in getting feedback as the HDD serial number from my Humax is not recognized! They said it was OEM and I should contact the box manufacturer. HDD manufacturers do not guarantee...
Thanks for confirming.
Is there a way to see the script for the disk diagnostic output, if so I will try again to get the Humax results on my Linux PC?
FWIW since replacing the HDD there does not seem to be any more "Breakups" when viewing a channel directly, but there is on earlier...
