FOXSAT-HDR: Can I gain access to existing recordings in the absence of an LNB connection and no channels tuned in?

I can and have done Telnet when needed (it's enabled on this laptop) and the CF Documentation has easy to follow instructions (for fixdisk in maintenance mode) as the one known use I have ever had for it. FOXSAT-HDR: Can I gain access to existing recordings in the absence of an LNB connection and no channels tuned in?
One has no ftp access in that state... Dunno about telnet... only use it once in a blue moon to get into maintenance mode for fixdisk; and have to follow the instructions in the Documentation to do that! But exiting to the -- MENU -- mode on the display will allow FTP. If/when I get inclined...- Rodders53

Regular crashes on specific channels
...indicates you have HDD and/or file system faults (or that you did things you haven't mentioned). From the menu, go into "maint" and run fixdisk. Stuck "Queued Tasks" | Not Auto-Processing
...I reset the queue by renaming /mod/etc/queue.db The list emptied and I added a file to decrypt but the file never gets processed. I ran a fixdisk...the fault remains. I have added several more files but non get processes (all are PENDING). Note. Auto-processing set to rub every 10 minutes...- SunnysideUK

Minimal information. Install 4.1.3 if not already. Run fixdisk from maintenance mode. Reinstall Webif and packages: From command line (using telnet) at the "humax#" prompt, issue the command rm /opt/etc/.DO_NOT_DELETE_THIS_FILE, then reboot. Now that disk tests can ne run without going into Maintenance mode it would be very nice if options to run Short, Long and Check were added to the webif Disk diagnostics page so that the tests could be initiated directly from the webif without needing to go into the webshell command line...- MymsMan

Thanks, but I am always hopeful that Humax can release a decent reliable Freeview recorder. Surely it can’t be that difficult to do? It’s not like going to the moon is it? What are these guys paid for? If they can’t do their job they should be sacked imo.- StvJam

My parents' HDR Fox T2 had basically a bad hard disc from new, I was running custom firmware fixdisk several times a year to keep it working until I swapped the disc. HDR-FOX T2 HDD Replacement
Why did you not try running custom firmware fixdisk on the original hard disc after the dd copy attempt failed? You had nothing to lose since the box ended up losing all its recordings anyway.- Owen Smith

Package Update Failure
Try doing a long disc check. I've had several bad blocks that the short test could not find and I had to run long tests before fixdisk could see where it was and therefore fix it.- Owen Smith

Auto-processing incorrectly flagging encrypted files as "Dec", if a decrypted duplicate exists on the disk
...I'm running the latest CFW and WebIf (and did a reinstall). Packages "auto-unprotect" and "auto-update" are installed, a 'long check' fixdisk (2TB disk) shows no issues, and nothing recursive is set on these directories or any of their parents any more. I do use ad-detect, but these are BBC.- Robobunny

Watt is correct?
...the router didn't help, would have to re-plug it. Moved the HDD for 3 months to my synology NAS and it was always present and responded when accessed. Ran a fixdisk scan which it passed. So assumed dodgy router firmware. Hence the foray into a Raspberry Pi, I wanted something more reliable.- Peso
