Cloning/Fixing Failed HDD
Agreed. fixdisk has had a lot of work put into it and is now quite a sophisticated tool. Anything goes wrong with the hard discs on the four HDR Fox T2s I look after in three households I just run fixdisk and it sorts it out.- Owen Smith

You admit you have no IT background and yet you won't acknowledge advice that Linux tools will handle a Linux file system better than Windows tools? This is stupid. fixdisk is a CF script for automating the use of Linux tools. Just do it.- Black Hole

I'm afraid that's all the designers of SMART allow you. Yes. "-s" stops it running the short test and uses the results from your long test to tell it what to fix. "-r" reboots the machine automatically at the end of the process rather than leaving it in Maintenance Mode. You can look at the log...- prpr

[Solved] - PVR-9150T - Recent recordings don't appear in list
...the HDR Fox T2 is we have diagnosed two of the common hardware faults, know what symptoms they cause, and how to fix them if you can use a soldering iron. On top of that using the custom firmware you can run fixdisk on the box itself, no need to remove the drive and fix it on a separate unix box.- Owen Smith

fixdisk -l not working
It might do shortly! The thing that really bugs me :mad: is selecting -h forces you back to the main menu where you have to enter "fixdisk" again and you lose the help you've just displayed up the page.- prpr

its you, ;) Just enter fixdisk, it will then prompt for options. it might be nice if it just used the first word entered as the menu option and passed anything additional as options bt it doesn't- MymsMan

...can set the long SMART test going while still using the box in normal mode, again on the Admin menu, and monitor periodically for when it finds the error. Then you can go to MM and the fixdisk stage, and use the options: -s -y -r and just leave it and hopefully come back to find it fixed...- prpr

You need to run through the fixdisk procedure in Maintenance Mode first, until you have no offline sectors. Then upgrade all your packages to the latest releases. There have been...- prpr

Persistent Pixelation on Playback
It can't hurt to run fixdisk, but a disk problem is unllikely to affect live TV unless it is affecting the replay buffer- MymsMan
