Thanks again Martin. I had a bit of trouble getting Fixdisk started again but it has now been running for well over an hour. I would sugggest turning the power to the Humax off. Then try running Fixdisc again.- MartinLiddle

Newbie Fixdisk stuck in loop
I am a long time user of Humax and yesterday the Hard Disc crashed. I have now managed to run Fixdisk but it got stuck in a loop. I tried to exit with Ctrl+] but now I dont know what to do. Please help. Tony- Tssoftware

Recover Deleted Files?
The odd thing is that 'select all' on the remote literally does that. Both folders/directories and files. So it's difficult to guess what actually happened.- bottletop

...selected 'All' for deletion, and the 'Deleted' folder did not accept the large volume of files sent to it. Whatever, I performed a 'fixdisk' procedure, which reported no problems, and also did not restore anything, so I will now move on, and close this down, as I will never know for sure...- Daveyuk

Recover Deleted Files?
It is certainly possible that it was a case of bad fingering, although not for sure. I had been doing some HDD housekeeping, and I might have deleted the wrong set of files. I will run fixdisk, but if that does not do anything, then I will just move on. Thanks for the reply.- Daveyuk

...precious files to be recovered: unplug the whole thing ASAP remove and image the disk (using some other system) put the disk back and run fixdisk If that doesn't result in files being recovered, either where expected or in the lost+found directory, make a copy of the saved disk image and...- /df

Two Problems While Trialling CF 1.03.12 on HDR-Fox T2
First freeze/auto-restart since running fixdisk five days previously - two recordings in progress when tried to select a third channel to watch; happened after the can't-change-channel warning appeared. ... and following that recipe and adding the WebIf resulted in fixdisk being happy as Larry :) Many thanks! It does make me wonder how the on screen menu format made a horlicks of it though- mumble_myopia

Many thanks for all that - nice to know it is not just me ;-) I've stopped the fixdisk and will use your spell - if, as I suspect, these are soft (file system structure errors) rather than hard (media problems), there's not much point in continuing the run. Well I guess you need to force reinstall jim - opkg install --force-reinstall jim - and then see what the next thing is that's broken. TBH, you'd probably have been better to blitz the whole /mod hierarchy and start again. Still need to know about firmware version and fixdisk status.- prpr

And what firmware version do you have installed, and have you done a fixdisk run from maintenance mode?- prpr

Yes. You can't fix a mounted filesystem. It takes them all off at the start and then selectively puts back as required for subsequent stages of the process, but they all end up unmounted at the end.- prpr

I guessed that, but what causes them not to be mounted? It's not just Maintenance Mode, because I was in Maintenance Mode when I took the screenshot in post 51. fixdisk? I presumed that only took file systems off-line one at a time.- Black Hole

Newbie Fixdisk stuck in loop
