So. Mother-in-law has two of these boxes. One in the living room, one in the back room, each connected to a TV.
Last week, the one in the living room started doing odd things: skipping channels as though someone was sitting on a remote.
So, tried the obvious things: took the batteries out of...
Whenever you need to spell things out on the UI, it's a massive pain. Especially when it sometimes exhibits quirky behaviour.
Has anyone found a way to make it work with a USB keyboard?
The gold standard, of course, would be a wireless one.
We seem to routinely have problems with content on BBC1. I've even tried recording items on 2 different BBC1 channels (NW and West Mids), and we get the same stuttering and pixelation, especially on recordings.
And so then we try to get the program up on iPlayer, and it keeps buffering...
Twice now, I've had to hard-restart my 4000T when it became unresponsive.
It seems to have managed to record, but while it was recording, and afterwards, it was completely unresponsive to the remote or even the buttons on the case.
The only thing that would get it back was a power-c
Has anyone heard any rumours about Mirai or other bots infecting the 4000T? I keep getting my IP blocked by the Spamhaus CBL, saying a device on my network is implicated in a botnet. It's mainly on linux devices.. and I remembered someone talking about the 4000 hammering their DSL connection.....
My HDR-Fox-T2 has started recording programmes and then hiding them. The programmes show as recording, but when they finish, there's no new item in the folder.
Has anyone come across this issue?
It's not the first problem we've had with this box, so we've replaced it with a 4000T; however...
I have a Fox-T2 that's (a) out of warranty and (b) a pain in the backside because the remote works badly on occasions. I look forward to doing this install and using the iPad to control the damn thing. :)
Good:
Three tuners
On-demand
WiFi built in, at last!
YouTube, iPlayer etc
Small and quiet
Remote actually works all the time (so far).
Not so good:
The interface is a bit too big and cartoony
Lost the skip forward and back buttons
Lost the ability to put things in folders (I have a "Films"...
Our T2 started selectively ignoring the remote. It comes and goes..
When it does work, it often shows the symptoms of poor debouncing; the command seem to be interpreted twice (e.g. you select "upper folder" and press OK, and it leaves the folder and immediately comes back in).
Did all the...
And isn't it a huge improvement!
Keeping a watchful eye, though; had a couple of funnies where it seems to have retuned all the channels without prompting (thereby losing all the schedules, of course).
And once or twice, the content has started to go all pixellated on all channels, and only...
