BOX failures and unreliability are probably down to electronics greatest enemy, HEAT!!
All these boxes run very hot due to poor air circulation and/or not having a CPU heatsink fan fitted.
I cant comment on the newer boxes as I have`nt had one yet.
I bought a DTR-T 1000...
Also, while you have the box apart, fit a fan to cool the CPU. That pathetic excuse for a heatsink is not up to the job!!
To prove my point, try touching it`s after it been running for about 10 minutes!!
You`ll get a burnt finger.
A 40mm fan stuck to the HDD caddy will help, but fit one to help...
I realise this is a fairly old thread but the heatsink on the cpu is way too small! I`ve just got a DTR-T1000 BT badged one off eBay and was amazed at how hot they get! Even the Huawei box is cooler but a lot slower, so I`ve put a small fan (a 40mm 12v fan bluetacked to the HDD caddy.) onto the...
