If remove the internal HDD from a HDR-2000T and fit it in an external USB adapter will that 2000T be able to play the recordings that are on the now USB connected drive?
I want to try a spare drive I have as the internal as a last attempt to get to the bottom of some intermittent problems with...
Hello
Just to say it's all back together and the firmware update went as advertised. Completed faster than the 5mins suggested by Humax and some of the prompts were a bit different but it seems to have worked in that the box now reports S/W version 1.01.20.
Now to see what happens with a few...
Hello
Error scaned Humax HDD - just two relating to "superblock times" very different to last time but I'll put it back together and see what happens.

Is the front or the rear USB port preferred?
Dose it matter if there are other files on the USB as long as none have the same...
Aaaaggghhh!!
It's acting up again. I intend (probably tomorrow) to take the HDD out again and run a fsck from a PC to see if file system errors have come back.
Clutching at straws, I looked again as to weather there is newer firmware available. Mine is 1.01.16 and available from Humax is...
Hello
I'd almost forgotten this thread with having some other home IT issues to sort (now all OK) and then Christmas but I had better report back.
Now, about two months on from doing a file system check and fix on the Humax disk from a PC running Linux I have had no more of the cut-short...
Thanks
I'll have to wait awhile to see if there are any more failed recordings.
Any ideas how the file system got in such a twist, apparently beond the ablities of the Humax internal utilities to correct it?
Hello
I've just got back to this.
I've opened up the Humax to find a Seagate 3.5" AV drive, removed it and hooked it up to my PC tower via SATA.
I then used ChrystalDisk to read the SMART data, this reported as OK though I don't really know how to interpret the raw info. I then downloaded...
Two more recordings Tues. One on C5 cut off about 2/3rds through and one on ITV completed OK.
It's looking as though there is some hardware problem. I'll have to find time and workspace to take the hard drive out to see whether the SMART info has any clues.
Hello Phil
As of 1st Sep the recordings I've made since reformatting the Humax on 25th Aug are:
2 from ITV4 - both OK
1 from E4 - OK
9 from BBC2 - one of these has the glitch.
The problem was with "Life in the Air" BBC2 on 25-8 from 15-15 to 16-15hrs. This only recorded 55mins and checked...
Update: 11 recordings made since Tues, 1 cut off 5mins short.
I will use the thing for a while and see what happens before pulling it apart.
Thanks
Will
I have a HDR 2000T that might be having hard disk issues. I haven't confirmed this yet (I have an ongoing thread about it here) but have been looking at suppliers for possible replacements if needed, I haven't opened the Humax yet so I'm just trying to get ahead a bit here.
Is it a 2.5 or 3.5"...
Hello
Apologies for not updating for nearly a month - things just seemed to get in the way of doing anything with this. So - latest developments.
Got refund from Amazon for the Kingston pen drive and ordered a SanDisk instead.
Copied 64Gb of unwatched stuff off the Humax - where does it al...
Hello
Things get really weird.
My new flash drive has arrived so I've tried to copy some stuff off the Humax. Select a handful of recordings and Copy > to USB come back some time later to see how its going, find it seems to be done but on the USB one good copy, one file cut short and no sign...
Hello
Disk free space: The Humax Media list indicates IRC 44% free so unless that is telling porkies there should be enough for the test recs I have made.
Disk analysis: I am inclined now to treat myself to a largish USB drive (they're not dear now) and copy off the unwatched material that I...
Right
Follow-up to my last post (no. 41).
24th July: Manual timer set for BBC2 9pm to 10pm - 34mins of the 60 recorded, the recording plays normally up to that point.
25th July: Trying a 'direct' recording with the REC button. BBC1 on screen approaching 11-30am, press REC when the info banner...
Thanks Phil
That time agrees with the Humax and VLC if I load the exported video file itself.
I've had these failed recordings across all channels, BBC, main commercials and 'the rest'. It doesn't always happen, I thought the problem was gone after trying a factory reset but now I've had a...
Hello
Well, I've installed Ghex hex editor and grappled with an unfamiliar interface and as far as I can see byte 0x0290 is 00 which acording to Raydn's work means no failure code set. The four groups starting with 0x0288 are F7 02 00 00 but translating these into actual time is beyond me...
Hello
Taking these from the bottom
Trev: ~15mins into a 1hr programme. Fast viewing what I did get it was just as an ad break cut back to programme - probably a red herring though as I've had the same kind of problems with BBC material so no breaks. This recording was AR though I've tried...
Hello
I haven't been using the box much so haven't had anything to report but have now had another cut recording.
It occurred to me that there might be a clue as to what is going on in the "sidecar" files so I have copied the failed rec and thus it's sidecars onto a USB pen to make them...
