I will not format my Humax HDD but simply delete recordings that have been copied to external drives...
prpr
I wish to format the HDD following recording/deleting both large and small files since buying the Humax 2 years ago. There doesn't appear to be a defrag facility.
I was only considering deleting files (recordings only) if formatting would destroy the custom firmware. But as the CF is...
Thanks BH ...
Although I've copied everything I've not deleted anything yet.
I note there are folders created as part of installing custom firmware.

I was going to copy these back following the format otherwise I would simply delete all 'recordings'...
Re: HDR-FOX T2
I have 2 external USB HDDs - 1.5TB and 2TB - and copied everything from the internal 1TB HDD.
If I now format the Humax HDD will it destroy the custom firmware?
Many thanks
Many thanks EP.
I don't require the ability to copy between ext HDDs but need to transfer out from the internal HDD before deletion/format to create free recording space.
I'm hoping the powered hub will allow for 2 or more ext HDDs, also separately powered, to remain online and searchable.
Does HDR-FOX T2 support USB hubs (separately powered) allowing for more than 1 ext HDD to connect to the rear USB socket? The rear socket is more convenient and neater than using the front panel socket.
Many thanks
My apologies ... found the solution in the (superb) WIKI ... the four zeros going in blind fooled me ... yes, I'm easily fooled.
THANKS (particularly to af123 for CFW 2.14 development)
This built-in package adds a menu to the Telnet Login screen Menu
Enter 0000 <return> for system PIN...
Although my Humax does NOT have a problem I tried to connect using Microsoft Telnet following the CFW update to 2.14
I no longer get the "humax#" prompt but this "Menu version 1.00" and "Enter system PIN:"
Tried putting in the Humax PW but that was not the answer. Any help would be much...
Thanks Black Hole - have upgraded CFW to 2.14
HarveyB - Humax was purchased brand new on 15 Nov 2011 but never registered. I'll check warranty period and register if 24 months. Thanks.
I had this same problem, unable to access the HDD with a message requiring a format to enable HDD use at power on.
I had installed the CFW recently, only a couple of weeks ago. My Humax is 1.02.29 - 1TB (54% available) and just over a year old so out of warranty.
Humax has internet...
