Just phoned Humax Customer Technical Support and the nice man is going to send me a new remote under warranty. I should have done that weeks ago! Now I'll have a spare in case I muck up sticking bits of silver paper to the buttons on the original.
Lelly, Sorry to hear about your woes but useful to hear that there's probably little point in me buying a new remote as it's likely to develop the same fault. My FF button continues to play up every few weeks, I just clean it and it's ok for another few weeks. Last night, the button underneath...
Thanks Mike. That's what I use to skip the ad breaks. The FF is for skipping general dross where I need to see scene changes. Touch wood, the FF button is behaving well since the last overhaul.
Thank you everybody for your suggestions. What a great forum this is. I gave the remote a more thorough clean yesterday and at the moment, it's working perfectly. If/when it deteriorates, I shall go for the silver foil option (if I haven't managed to obtain a warranty replacement in the meantime).
Hi Martin, Thank you. I could try that as long as they don't ask me to send the old one back first because it's obvious that it's been "attended to"!! (Hope they're not watching this thread! - I'll wear a disguise).
Thank you Black Hole. That was to be my next attempt. (Either foil or some thermal CPU paste - if I could bake it on!) Not quite sure how I'll cut a perfectly round piece of foil (about 2mm dia.) and stick it in place with my fat fingers but I'll give it a go ;) I'll have to employ some kind...
My HDR 2000T is about 7 months old and the "Fast Forward" button (only) on the remote has started playing up. (It gets a lot of use skipping through the adverts and the dross). At first, it required a bit more effort than usual to make it respond, then it got worse.
I've taken it to bits...
I now see why the HDR 2000T was a fair bit cheaper!
Well, I've fitted a better quality aerial and slightly improved its positioning. Signal Strength has gone up from 49-53% to 50-73%. I turned Network Search off, manually re-tuned and this time I didn't notice any duplicated TV channels...
Thanks Luke. I'll have to wait until my scheduled recordings finish before I can access that again.
You don't know how I can avoid having to reset all my scheduled recordings after every re-tune do you? That's becoming rather tiresome. ;)
Thanks Black Hole, I'll check that out. I'd assumed (always a mistake) that on Manual search the stations listed were only for the channel being searched.
Martin, Thank you for your reply. Film 4,Film 4+1, ITV+1 & Channel 5 appeared on the list of TV stations when I manually searched channel 55 AND on Channel 60. There were a lot of others that duplicated but I couldn't write them all down quickly enough!
"Signal Quality shown by all three devices is 98-100%." So I don't have a problem with the Signal Quality readings shown. I just have a problem with the quality of the picture and sound on SOME recordings and only on the Humax.
I have carried out a manual re-tune, selecting the channels listed for my local transmitter (Oxford). I won't know whether it's done the job until I've watched several recordings (preferably on ITV in the evening, when it's raining as that seemed to be when the recordings suffered).
Two things...
I don't have a problem with the 98-100% quality readings and I don't have a problem with the picture on the TV or my Sagem PVR. It's the Humax that is sometimes failing to record programs due to poor signal and/or it's sometimes recording a pixelated picture with corresponding sound problem to...
I have an HDR 2000T, a Sagem PVR and a Sony TV all connected to the same TV aerial cable.
Signal Quality shown by all three devices is 98-100%.
However, For the main 5 TV channels (BBC1 - Chanel 5) Signal Strength shows 49-53% on the Humax, 73-75% on the Sagem and 98-99% on the Sony TV...
