Well, money doesn't necssarily do the trick because this Ebay one is dud - it starts up but neither of two remotes does anything. Batteries checked, of course. Is there some way to prevent a Humax working with a remote? The PVR mode has been selected.
EDIT: solved. The remote was coded for a...
I know this was done previously but I just don't get why making a PVR which is much better than the T2 is so difficult.
I would expect every £1k+ TV to have one inside. Some TVs already contain a hard disk but it seems to be used only for pausing a programme while one goes to take a leak, etc.
I was looking for a good condition T2; that's all. You can buy them for 30 quid but those are probably near the end of their life.
Yes of course lots of people spend crazy money on junk, in the hifi / home cinema business. I am an electronics design engineer with extensive audio time and we all...
Google turns up some stuff on these "upgraded" boxes. I am sure it makes no difference in reality. The hifi / home cinema business is full of snake oil, with £500 cables etc.
Our T2 started playing up properly, with various forms of not starting up, so I bought the best I could find on Ebay

Not sure if it has custom firmware but we haven't used the special features for ages anyway.
Thanks very much for your reply. I didn't do a good enough search to start with...
Yes I run a forum also so know the admin issues. You may be able to move your reply to this thread, perhaps.
I didn't realise there is a process fo changing over the key. With some ethernet adapters one can change...
Ours has just started doing the same thing.
It powers up normally, you get about 3 seconds of the currently selected TV channel, and then you get a bright green screen, which fades after a few seconds, and the box goes dead.
The remote does show the blue/red light toggle (that indication was...
Maybe this has been much discussed...
Why didn't Humax bring out a successor to their successful products of years ago?
So much could have been done to improve performance, as well as the already very good functionality. I have been trying to play back videos from a Synology network drive and...
I remember Tottenham Court Road but even more so Edgware Road, from 1969 onwards.
Henry's Radio, GW Smith, and others long pre-dated Maplin.
It all died out as hobbies became unfashionable and the public ridiculed anyone who was "into" something as an anorak or a weirdo. So the electronics...
I apologise for not having read item 5 in Martin's post correctly.
Another Q if I may ask: is it normal for receivable channels to move around over the years? It would certainly create good business for TV antenna installers who charge 150 quid just to take a look :)
Many thanks all.
I followed the instructions. Actually it seems one has to select each channel, select the T or T2 option, and then press Search and after a few secs the Save button appears, if it got any signal.
This is what I see on that Freeview site mentioned above, for my area and...
These don't get the programme listings so cannot be set up for automated recording.
I have done a search and find various procedures which (despite having a degree in electronics and being a hardware/software designer) I find impenetrable. It is something to do with channels being transmitted...
OK... it crashed just now, watching a channel called 63 Community.
My GF was watching and reported a clearly audible click just before it crashed. A hard drive head hitting the stop?
If it crashes again, I will give that a go. I don't mean to sound lazy ;) but when I did
- factory defaults, and
- an automatic retune
surely that is no more than approximately 99% of buyers will end up doing? And if even say 10% of Humax customers were getting a constantly rebooting unit...
