I don't remember seeing this posted before, but I have only recently realised what the "7" icon that appears in the right hand column of the recording schedule (Guide >> Yellow) means.
It indicates a recording that has been set up manually with repeat = "Daily". If you set a repeat = "Weekdays" the icon has a "5" in it and the background bar indicates the 5 days out of 7. No doubt similar will occur with the other repeat options.
