A question about using external hard drives

Hi Guys im currently using a 320GB WD passport essentials connected to a 4 port hub then connected to the rear of the humax. I use this drive for archiving off SD material from the humax internal HDD or watching back movies / playing mp3's on the humax.

Im thinking of adding a 500gb WD passport essential to the setup to record to. I know that i have to format it using the humax but how do i set the humax to rcord to it instead of the internal HDD?

Unfortunatly It is not possible to record directly to an external USB drive even though it is possible on the HD-FOX T2.
 
ahh thats where i was getting confused - thanks for clearing that up ;)
