All settings lost after booting from standby - must do full setup

Hi everyone, I feel sure that this problem is a common one but I'm not finding it by searching.

My HD-FOX T2 Freeview has developed an issue where often when booted from Standby using either the Remote or the front panel button, it goes straight to the Initial/Full setup screen (asks me to pick aspect ratio, does a full scan for channels etc). It has apparently lost all its settings. Biggest effect is that scheduled programs don't record.

Could someone point me in the direction of the thread/threads where this has been discussed in the past?

Install the CF, get it in to Maintenance Mode, run the "flash" command option. Reboot.
If it's still broken after that, put it in the bin.
