Aura rebooting itself pretty much every day

Has anyone experienced this? I thought it might be an app glitch (we watch alot of stuff using Kodi), but the Aura will often reboot when we're simply watching live TV.
Has anyone else had this problem? It's pretty annoying as quite a few scheduled recordings have failed because of this.
 
Used to have the Aura reboot every day, usually overnight or first thing. Don't think I've had it reboot when just watching live tv. Maybe when a recording started. Occasional reboot when VLC gets it's underwear in a tangle. Never used Kodi, so I don't know if it's a common problem.
 
Yes my Aura does the same, sometimes several times a day and quite often daily.

Does yours go for a soft power down and power up where it only loses picture for a matter of seconds,
when mine does this any recordings taking place carry on recording even though the LED has turned blue.

Or does your go for a full power down and full power up with the Humax logo followed by
the Android start up screen followed by the white rotating circle for a few minutes and then goes to live TV.
Any recordings taking place whilst it does this will have been interrupted but after coming back on the recordings should start again.
In the recordings list you will see the broken recording sign, but it should play normally (until the point when the Aura decided to restart)
but will immediately start the second recording performed after the restart, so you will miss a couple of minutes.

When the Aura decides it is having a bad day and has powered down a few times and I get annoyed I hold the power button down for a few seconds
and then press OK on the power off splash screen. I then leave the Aura alone for over ten minutes (the LED should be completely off, if no recordings
are taking place of course) and then power up, this usually sorts the Aura out for a couple of days or more.

Other things you could try are a Freeview reset, which can be accessed under Freeview Play Preferences in Settings.
Or if the Aura is being particularly cantankerous do a Factory Reset.

Be aware of what will happen when you attempt either or both of the resets, prepare yourself beforehand.

Not sure why it does this, just the magic of owning an Aura.
I have often thought of taking the cover off and seeing if it full of dust which may be causing it to over heat.
But haven't done so.

My Aura is now over three years old, what age is yours.
 
I haven't noticed any soft power-downs, but will keep an eye out for it. My resets are full cold restarts, with the Humax logo being displayed.
The last time a recording was interrupted (on Friday night) it failed to record the remainder of the programme after the restart. There was a 2nd recording in the list but it was unplayable.
I do Freeview resets from time to time, when a particular app (or live TV) is playing up.
The machine is less than 18 months old.
 
Where did you buy your Aura, some places like John Lewis were offering automatic 2 year warranties.
If however you had bought the Aura from other resellers offering only 1 year warranties you could have
registered your Aura with Humax and gained a 2 year warranty.
If you do have 2 year warranty are you brave enough to send it back.

I bought it direct from Humax. I might contact them and see what they say
 
A Freeview reset is the first thing to try as that does tend to solve the reboots (for a while at least).

If you export your settings and import them afterwards, you will not even loose your recording schedule.

Mine will tend to start doing reboots when Freeview have been shuffling some of the channels, so as soon as I get the first reboot I do the Freeview reset and all is well again.

Once I have done the reset and it's up and running I leave mine on BBC1 for around 15 minutes so the guide fully populates, then imports my previously exported settings. If you import too early it cannot find the programs that match the timers and reports it as 'Error' in the timer list. Also, if there has been a change of channel positions then some of your imported timers will also show 'Error'.

Hmmm....I just exported my Freeview settings, did a Freeview reset, left the Aura on BBC1 for 20 minutes, then re-imported my settings. My recording schedule was not restored.
Have I misunderstood something?

EDIT: I started to re-add my scheduled recordings, starting with the 1 o'clock news on BBC1 (series link). It accepted my request, but a few seconds later the screen went blank for several seconds, When it came back and I brought the Guide back up, the BBC news scheduled recording had disappeared
????

EDIT2: It seems I may not have waited long enough....I can now see my scheduled recordings beginning to re-appear. I guess the process takes longer than I thought (and there was no feedback/info on progress when I selected the import option)

Possibly your guide took longer to populate and that's why it didn't find everything at first.

It would be good if there was some kind of progress of the import, but at least it does it.

Glad they are all there now.
 
Well, my luck lasted 5 days. It rebooted again this evening for the first time since I did the Freeview reset.
Humax Support responded to my email - they just told me to do a factory reset. TBH I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble, as I suspect that it may only buy be another couple of weeks before it starts happening again.

I did a factory reset on my Aura yesterday as I like to do it around the six month mark, as like computers, a good reset keeps them running well. I have done this on all my Humax devices.

It only took about an hour and that was after adding all my apps, getting them signed in and adding my recording schedule.

Maybe it’s time for yours to be reset. All recordings are saved.

How long after a factory reset do you typically start getting random reboots again? (or do you not suffer from this problem?).

Also, is there any way of backing up and restoring the recording schedule following a factory reset?

I am one of the lucky ones who rarely gets random reboots.

When I do get them its usually when Freeview start adding/removing channels, but then all I do is a Freeview reset and that sorts it.... until next time.

It does seem you either get a good Aura or you get a bad one, luckily I am seem to be the former.

When you do a factory reset it will delete any settings the back up keeps, so I just take a photo of my recording schedule and add them back in afterwards. With a factory reset I like to start everything fresh, of course apart from the area of disk occupied by my recordings.

Yes, but I am not sure if the settings are saved after factory default as I have not tried it?

I agree that sometimes you could be importing your issue again using the backup, so that’s why I prefer the taking of photos of schedule and starting from scratch.
