I'm still using original 512MB drives that came with the four Humax HDR Fox T2s I manage. The one my parents use had a faulty drive from new, but by the time custom firmware got good enough to know that it was too late for a warranty claim. There were nearly 100 bad sectors the first time I ran fixdisk, it took several runs over a week to get it clean. It then limped on for years losing around a sector per month. Shortly before covid the rate accelerated and I swapped it for an unused drive from one of my two spare HDR Fox T2s. That drive is still in use as are all the other three on their original drives, and my aunt's box is on for about 12 hours every day. On average I lose a single sector per year across all 4 discs ie. 1 sector every 4 years per disc. They have been incredibly reliable drives and I am in no hurry to replace them.
