Auto-unprotect - understanding the process

What is the advantage of turning it off at the wall? What does this do to prevent crashes that putting it into standby and therefore rebotting it when turning it back on does? Thanks.
There is no advantage to it but most of us suffer from occasional crashes that require a full power off (at wall or switch on back) to resolve.

Okay thanks for the info.

I will report back in a few days if there have been any more issues with recordings as it doesn't seem there is an explanation for what I have been experiencing with playback or recordings. Hopefully turning off auto-unprotect has fixed it though time will tell.
